UCSD vs UC Berkeley

I am really torn between these two schools...
Stuff about me: San Diego resident, majoring in structural/civil engineering

UCSD advantages: I live pretty close to the place, my parents want me to go there, San Diego's great in itself (the weather, amusement parks, SD Zoo)

vs

UC Berkeley: higher prestige, better education in my major (no.1), one of the best public schools

but bad weather compared to San Diego

UCB has an awesome location, it's right next to san francisco, the best city in the world!

I would choose UCB over UCSD; UCB is ranked number one in the nation for Civil Engineering, and the location will offer you a place to move away from home -- it's worth the bad weather.

agreed. UCB over UCSD.

UC Berkley.

The Zoo!?!?

You SoCal types are amusing with the weather criticisms about Berkeley.

Live up to your handle and break your umbilical cord already. Go to the best CE program in the world in one of the best places in the world.

Bad weather in Berkeley? It's always sunny and mildly warm but seldom uncomfortably hot. For brutal weather, you need to come to the Northeast.

Yea, the weather in Berkeley is 10x better than the weather here, in ann arbor.
