My case is slightly different from the forums that I've been reading through searching.

I have been admitted to UCI for Biology, UCSD for cognitive science (sixth).
Because my goal is to enter medical school which university would be better for me to attend since the majors differ?
Is cog sci at UCSD a good major for medical school even though it isn't as famous as the bio program? I know it'll be harder for me to switch to a bio major at UCSD and that irks me if I am unsatisfied with cog sci later on.

There’s no “better” major for medical school.

The keys to getting into a good medical school are a high overall GPA, a high GPA in prerequisite courses, high MCAT scores, stellar letters of rec, achievements in volunteering/research/teaching, etc.

You can be majoring in Underwater Basketweaving and if you’ve satisfied the previously mentioned things, there’s nothing to worry about. UCSD and UCI are both terrific schools, but significantly different in what they have to offer students at the non-academic levels. Visit both, do your homework, and pick the one you think you’ll be happiest at.

Thanks for the info astrina! I’ll be visiting UCSD at April 9th and see how the environment is there. I would think non academic wise UCSD would probably provide more, but I’ll know when I go down to la jolla and see for myself ;]
