UCSD vs UCLA in undergrat engineering

I gave up on Berkeley to go to UCSD, because I do not like the city of Berkeley. I was told that UCLA has a better engineering program than UCSD in undergrat, is it true? Because UCB is better than UCLA for sure, I now kind of regret of my choice. I thought UCSD is bette than UCLA in terms of engineering.
Any opinions?

Guys????
Please reply

It depends on the engineering. I think UCSD is excellent for bio-engineering.

UCSD is excellent, but it doesn't offer all fields of engineering, so it depends on what you are interested in. They don't have civil engineering but they do offer separate majors in structural and environmental engineering, which are oftentimes combined with civil engineering at other universities.

Good luck to you wherever you choose to attend. :)

My major will be either Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering. Computer engineering will be my third choice.

I hate all this ranking thing. But here you go, I hope it helps you with your decision. Please scroll down to post #1995.

UCLA has a better overall reputation than UCSD, but they are comparable in Engineering. UCSD is better in some fields, while UCLA is better in others.

My daughter had the same choices you did and she is majoring in mechanical engineering. She narrowed it down to UCSD and Cal. She committed to Cal for many reasons. If it were between UCLA and UCSD, she would have picked UCSD. They have the nicest college in engineering of all the UC's. There is big money going into the engineering department there. If you were at the UCSD admit day, we were blown away impressed by the philosophy of team development. In the end, my daughter wanted a school with more school spirit and an active student body. If it were purely on the programs, we liked the UCSD program hands down, even moreso than Cal's.

Does anyone know what is Computer Science ranked in UCSD?
How is it compared to ME and EE in UCSD? (ME and EE are ranked pretty highly in UCSD)

UCSD is ranked #14 in EE, #16 in CS, and #22 in ME.

really? I heard their ME is ranked pretty highly

22 is pretty high for ME...nearly every college campus in the nation offers it.

but its ranked #14 in EE.

14 in EE is better than #22 in ME, right?

You should choose your major based on interest, not rankings! Besides, Berkeley is ranked in the top 5 in nearly every Engineering major and you turned them down.

Berkeley: #1 CS, #2 EE, #3 ME

No, there's no difference.
