UCSD vs. UTD

Currently I am trying to decide between these two schools, however I am an out of state student to UC San Diego and the only aid I can receive are loans. On the other hand, UT Dallas is almost completely free for me because of the AES scholarship. My main point of concern is that I am planning on going to medical school following my undergraduate studies and I’m not sure if I should go for UCSD and take on the loans for a better school or choose UTD, the cheaper but - from what I’ve heard - worse school. Any advice would be much appreciated!

On another note, do medical schools take into account the prestige of the undergraduate university I will attend? Also, is there a way I can find out how many students/what percentage of students from UTD/UCSD successfully go on to medical school?

Mostly your GPA and MCAT to start, then other premed stuff including interviews. Medical school is expensive, though in state TX is less than most others.

Better to save the money by going to UTD. If you are a TX resident, it will also be easier to get to medical school interviews at TX medical schools from UTD.
