UCSD waitlist chance?

Hey I’m a female in-state and i applied for Electrical Engineering (second choice: app math) and was waitlisted at UCSD – do you know what the chances are to get accepted from the waitlist? How does it work and how many people are on the waitlist approx??

This varies year to year, but google the past common data sets for UCSD to see waitlist trends. Virtually nobody got off waitlist last year however because UCSD overenrolled.

UCSD has not posted any waitlist stats for the last 4 years on the common dataset. This information is from 2015 where there was 9000 waitlist opt ins and 996 admitted. Nothing since 2015 that I can find.

Select applicants will be invited to opt in to our waitlist through their Applicant Portal.

Students are not automatically placed on the waitlist. You must opt in by:

Freshman applicants: April 15, 2018 at 11:59 pm PST
Transfer applicants: May 15, 2018 at 11:59 pm PST
Being on the waitlist does not guarantee an offer of admission. We strongly urge students to accept another university’s admission offer before the appropriate deadline to ensure they have secured a spot at an institution. There is no appeal process for the waitlist.

ADMISSION DECISIONS FROM THE WAITLIST

We will release final decisions to applicants who opted in to the waitlist by the end of June for freshmen and by the end of July for transfers. Over the past three years, the number of freshman applicants admitted from the waitlist has ranged from 0 to 2,000. Students admitted from the waitlist have received on-campus Housing and Financial Aid.

Students admitted from the waitlist have 5 days from the time of notification of admission to accept their offer through the Applicant Portal.

Okay thank you so much!!
