UCSD Waitlist Thread [Class of 2020]

@aschwarz22 Awesome! Were you put on the actual waitlist or on the appeal waitlist?

@honcho @Indianese I believe it was the regular wait list, here is what it says on my portal:

You have opted in to the UC San Diego freshman waitlist. Because you were given the waitlist option, we know that you are an outstanding student, one who we would like to offer admission if additional space becomes available.

This is what the email response to my appeal said:

Your undergraduate admissions appeal to UC San Diego has been reviewed, and the decision is to be placed on the waitlist. When you log into myapplication.ucsd.edu you will see the waitlist confirmation message.

UCSD is my top choice, but I have already committed to cal poly SLO and odds are even if I do get in to UCSD I will be attending SLO because I don’t want to live off campus at UCSD.

Pretty sure dorms are guaranteed to people if accepted off waitlist.

@jackisawesome I don’t think they are, I have a friend who got in through the waitlist and is living off campus.

@aschwarz22 I was under the impression that all freshman receive housing (not necessarily desired one) because they admit a certain number of students. Your friend may have opted out of housing and lived off of campus.

OK so I got into the UCSD waitlist with a 2330 SAT 3.2 GPA (10-12 unwtd), a really, really bad essay. My major is Computer Science. Anyway, do you guys think i have a chance?

Also my ECs are: volunteered for NHS about 10 hours in total (am not in NHS anymore).

10 days left guys! hang in there!

It doesn’t come out on May 1st though (at least not usually). It starts the 4th or the 12th and continues to the last day of June

D:

LETS ALL HOPE FOR THE BEST Y’ALL. We made it all the way to march, been through the thread fiasco, just two more weeks!! Its so nerve racking yet somewhat makes me happy that I do have a lil chance at my dream school

Quick survey question for you all:

If UCSD admitted you to an Undeclared major (keep in mind that its very hard to transfer into ANY major from undeclared), would you still attend UCSD?

I thought that one of the most popular majors for incoming freshmen was undeclared, and all you have to do is declare a major by the end of your sophomore year?

And yeah, I would seriously consider it!

I would consider it

@honcho No it is not difficult to switch from undeclared to a major. (You literally send them an email through your portal and it’s done). It’s only difficult if you want to switch into a capped major.

@Dawg619 I was under the impression that all majors were impacted/capped but apparently that only applies to engineering majors for the most part.

@honcho Yeah and bio science, economics, and mathematics majors are capped too.

@Dawg619 Most of us are applying towards STEM/bis-econ/CS majors lol

off waitlist
