I just check the status, they told me that they can admit me now, but I can sign into the waitlist.
Does anyone also get this information?

My major is Econ. and 3.5 GPA, with TAG.
I thought TAG was a guarantee, isn't it?

TAG is a guarantee. That’s odd that you were placed on a wait list with TAG… Did you violate TAG requirements and void it? If not, they should have to admit you.

I followed everything on TAG
3.0+ GPA
all courses
check UCSD TAG box
and so on…

hahaha i got wait listed for ucsd too. 3.79 gpa with tag.

sucks man, i think they ****ed up or something. but i got in cal. so good luck!

What do you mean you talked to them and they said they can admit you now?

Oh…
They said “we regret to inform you that we are unable to offer you admission at this time”

also waitlisted. i thought i was rejected but this morning i actually read the rest of the note (past we regret to inform you…) and i am waitlisted. weird.

Why would they wait list TAGers and admit non-TAGers? Seems a bit unfair to me. You should can them and ask why.

One news is that UCs expand their spots for international students and non-Cal residents, because of the budget issue.

I Tag’d and was wait listed as well, I also thought that I was guaranteed admission. I checked my app and it seems I filled everything out correctly, and my Tag is valid. This is really devastating. Does anyone the chances for wait listers of being accepted?

I’m sure many people on the wait list will get in once people decline their admission offers at UCSD to go elsewhere. My spot, for instance, will hopefully go to someone who’s waiting to get in.

I denied my admissions to UCSD good luck you guys!

I was waitlisted to UCSD as well. Communications Major with a 3.68, I also did TAG. I asked them why I got waitlisted. It was because I did not finish my math requirement by the fall 2010 quarter. You guys should email them by clicking Contact Us. I got an email immediately, and they told me exactly why I got waitlisted! Best of luck to everyone :]

I was offered a spot on the waitlist too. How will they decide who to choose off of the waitlist?

maybe it depends on what you write about in the 200 word paragraph?

@Staceyh418 – I’m sure that will play a role in their decisions, but do certain people have priority over others because they have more points (since UCSD admits on a point system)? Will accepting the offer to be placed on the waitlist earlier heighten one’s chances of being admitted off of the waitlist? Will it be a completely fresh evaluation, therefore everyone will be in the same boat once again? Those types of things…

I have no idea! but I will call them tomorrow and ask :] what else should I ask?

In case anyone is interested, I emailed UCSD on Friday. I asked whether accepting the offer early gives you priority, and they said no. I also asked if we would know what type of financial aid package we would receive before we submit our SIR if we are accepted off of the waitlist, and they said “you will be able to view your preliminary award notification prior to submitting the Statement of Intent to Register.”

I just talked on the phone with UCSD. The lady seemed really moody so I didn’t want to talk much. She basically told me that I’m on the wait list because of the delay in the fullfillment of my math requirement. Basically we just need to write that 200 word paragraph. And she told me to SIR to somewhere else… sigh. GRRR… SO FRUSTRATING! I really don’t want to go to Davis ;(

@Staceyh418 - Yeah, it sucks. I actually don’t mind going to Davis though, but it is annoying having to go through the waiting process again.
