Ask how many have accepted admission (sired)

@Silenthillnight

I tag’d into an engineering major successfully at UCSD, whoever told you that you couldn’t didn’t know what they were talking about.

@Anacondrea – what engineering major did you TAG into? Did you do IGETC as well? I would’ve TAGed to UCSD but I didn’t finish IGETC…

I tag’d into Bioengineering:Biotech and I did finish igetc. My bf got waitlisted as well because of the darn igetc.

I was one social science class away from finishing IGETC but then again, all the engineering colleges don’t require it so I decided not to finish it. But yea, at my college, the TAG posters said engineering majors weren’t TAG able so I just finished all the major reqs that were available.

it says on the guardian website (UCSD newspaper) that we will find out before june 10! YAY! that means we dont have to wait that long

So did you ever call?

Okay, so I called today. I did my last final today and had time to do it.
I’m going to be honest. What they said kind of bummed me out.
I asked how many people have SIRed so far, so I could get a an idea of what our chances are. They said that so far it looks good for them, and that the yield they had this year is about the same as the yield they had last year. I’m not sure what that means for us. :-/

Well does that mean it looks bad for us? Hopefully they at least let in some people.

I’m getting pretty anxious about hearing. I’m really worried about getting my hopes up and then having them shattered.

By saying last year’s yield, I wonder if that’s a good or bad thing. I’m thinking they wouldn’t have set up a waitlist this year if the yield was good the previous year.

Hey Guys, I found this:
[Student Research and Information](<a href=“Undergraduate Statistics”>Undergraduate Statistics)
Click on the link to section d (it will open a .pdf file).
It says that a total of 8,031 students were admitted last year and 2,568 students accepted their offer last year. This would mean they admitted about 1000 people less than last year this year!

uh so?

10char

it kinda makes me wonder. Say those 8000 for some reason all decide to accept their admissions. Considering many schools use past statistics to over-admit students in order to reach their quota, what would they do with the over-abundance of transfers now entering that they did not think would accept?

to be honest i dont think anyone is getting in off this waitlist. I think we were just given false hope.

if people would stop choosing ucsd over ucla and berkeley, we’d all have a better chance. Hell, I’d love to take their spots at the other schools.

Sadly, I agree with Random_Monkey that we were just given false hope. We really should all be making back up plans.

I saw you got accepted to Berkeley Silenthillnight! Congrats!

Haha, thanks. I guess that opens up a slot on the waitlist. I’ll pull my name from the list so I don’t interfere with any of your chances. Good luck guys :)

Wait how did you get in? Appeal?
