UCSD - was there some special "qualification" SCORE to be admitted?

I was reading some UCSD threads (not from today) and read posts talking about people who "almost had XXXX [4 digit score] and so that's why I think I didn't get in." I'm not referring to anything regarding Financial Aid, I'm talking strictly about applicant qualification.

Does what I'm talking about exist? Because if so, it was never mentioned to me at all when I was applying, and I didn't find the information on the UCSD website. I thought we would be reviewed strictly on our GPA, units taken, and according to some, our personal statements (if we were on the brink).

I am not sure for transfers, but I know incoming freshmen from high schools are evaluated using this point system:

I hope that helps ^^;

I know it’s only for freshmen, not sure about transfers though.

Ahhh thanks guys that is the thing I was referring to! Glad I made sense.

So this means that this point system of evaluation could NOT have been used against us transfers, right?

ARGHHH double post. Sorry.

Transfers get evaluated based on IGETC, GPA, prereqs, the usual stuff.

Umm for that, I don’t know :frowning: I don’t know how they evaluate transfer applications…I think it’s best to call and ask them why you got rejected.

@sugary: thanks.

I’m strongly thinking of calling on Monday, but I’m concerned that they won’t be friendly and will be irritated, and therefore won’t take me seriously or want to genuinely look into my file. It’ll be so unfortunate, I can just see it happening on the phone.

Do you anticipate them being patient with upset denied applicants, especially those who will sound resolute?

I think it depends on who you get x.x; From reading the threads here, some people get really nice ones, or mean ones who are very brief :confused: Just try being super polite and see how it goes from there?
