so…anyone else get winter quarter for 2007?

anyone know if we can appeal for fall quarter?

so…anyone else get winter quarter for 2007?

anyone know if we can appeal for fall quarter?

I was admitted for winter quarter and everything I've read says no appeals as there isn't room. Guess they are assuming some students will drop out after fall quarter and we'll be there to take their places.

I got winter for Muir, but since muir is the most popular school they probably wont' have any rooms for the winter people. I heard in some cases for winter people, they will offer fall admissions to another school. are you guys planning on renting an apartment and doing the ucsd extension program? I feel kind of sad that I'm missing out on the college experience. :(

i was also admitted for the winter quarter to Revelle. How does revelle compare to others (international relations - econ )? is there a way I can take community college classes and transfer them to UCSD, so I can graduate on time?

i know you can take community college credits to ucsd. i don't think a winter quarter admission will screw any of us over that much, as long as we actively do something during that down period.
anyone have more info on ucsd extension program?
and how do we know if we could get admission to another college for the fall quarter...?

i read in other forums that people get calls that offer them admission to other colleges.
yeah, i keep hearing this ucsd extension program but what is it exactly?

A stupid question >>> How do you know you are admitted for Winter quarter 07 as the admitted message doesn't carry any "Fall/Winter quarter" words.

pwmyeung:
what does your admit message say then? i think it's safe to assume you got fall quarter unless stated otherwise =P

Accepted message is:-

On behalf of the faculty, staff and students of the University of California, San Diego, I congratulate you on your admission to Warren College! UCSD is one of the nation's most outstanding universities, and we look forward to welcoming you to our campus.

Your online admission notice will give you the details you need, and the steps to take, to accept our offer of admission. Within this Web site you will find our admission guide covering a variety of important campus information. A convenient checklist will ensure that you complete each step. You'll be able to turn in your Statement of Intent to Register (SIR), see your preliminary Financial aid notice, learn more about your undergraduate college, and much more. Please remember the deadline for accepting UCSD's offer of admission is May 1, 2006. And be sure to save the date for Admit Day, Saturday, April 8!

how do i appeal for fall quarter?, it says that you can't change the college, but you can appeal for fall quarter? ,

UCSD FAQs Freshman Admission Winter 2007: Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I was admitted for the Winter Quarter, but want to attend in the fall instead. Is there anything I can do?

UCSD continues to receive far more applications from excellent students than there are available spaces for the Fall quarter. The fact that you were offered Winter admission means that you met UCSDs selection criteria, and you are to be congratulated for your achievements. UCSD is rated as one of top universities in the nation, and its strong reputation will go with you as you enter graduate or professional school and/or a career. While it may presently feel inconvenient to wait one quarter to begin your undergraduate experience, in the long run, a UCSD education will benefit you throughout your life.

Q: I would like to switch to another UCSD undergraduate college. Can I request a switch from the one I was admitted to?

No. Each college has a certain number of spaces for freshmen to meet its enrollment goals. Thus, there are no college changes granted. Experience has shown that once you arrive on campus, you will most likely be very happy with your undergraduate college. And a reminder: your choice of college does not affect your choice of major. Each college has students from every UCSD major.

Q: I didnt get admitted to my first choice of major. Is there anything I can do?

The vast majority of our students are admitted to their major of choice. UCSD has several majors that are impacted, meaning that more students select those majors than there are spaces available. These spaces are given to those students with the highest rankings in the admission process. If you werent admitted to one of these majors, you must accept your alternate major, or select another major that is not impacted.

yes i read that, can't you still appeal because not everyone who gets accepted goes, i mean ppl who get into UCSD will be going to L.A. and Cal

My daughter is in the same situation (winter quarter 2007 to Revelle) and I plan to ask this question at the UCSD reception next month (that was in the email we received). I'll post the answer to this board.

thank you very much

so i called up the admission office for ucsd this morning, and someone told me that there is absolutely nothing i can do to appeal for fall quarter...
unless i have new and compelling material that has happened in the months after submitting my original application. like an award or..something.

the cut off point for this year was 7421. usually it's around 7000.
the cut off point for winter quarter was 7356.

wth do the numbers mean? explain the cutoff points, so there are total like 14,000 ppl accepted? ***?

changbj88:
haha i just posted the same thing in your thread so that's two replies of random numbers.=

unlike the other ucs, ucsd admits people based on a point system. everything on your application from gpa to extracurriculars are all assigned a point value. i'm not sure what the maximum number of points are but basically they tally up the points on your application. every applicant is then lined up according to how many total points their application received. based on the number of availible fall spaces, ucsd sets the cut off point. so in this case, any application receiving 7421 or above got into fall quarter. anyone under 7421 but above 7356 is admitted for winter.

we're like...ucsd's wait list.

thats pretty ghey dude, are u sure about the other colleges calling in about fall quarter admit??? im not gonna live outside campus for winter quarter, thats pretty stupid, costs more and im a quarter behind rofl,

don't worry about winter quarter too much, i think chances of all winter admits getting fall are pretty high. last year, all the winter admits were offered fall admission. about 10% of ucsd admits this year were winter. that's a pretty high number so most likely we could get fall as well as the studnets last year did.

thx i hope so :)
