UCSD Winter TAG 2010 (From UCD/CC)

Hi everyone!

This is my first post. I'm a new transfer student to UCD and I'm starting this Summer (09) and Fall (09). I originally transferred from a local CC and am taking some classes at the local CC this summer. My question is if it would be possible to make a Winter TAG for 2010 to UCSD. I will be taking one class (a 4.0 unit MicroBio class) at the local CC during the fall semester simultaneously with my first real quarter at Davis. I was wondering if UCSD admissions would say "no" to that. It does say in the TAG requirements that the last college attended has to be a CC, and I do fulfill that. Would that slide you think? And for those of you asking "why?" I want to transfer to SD for personal reasons and also because I love the campus(since I didn't get into UCSD in the fall). hehe. Please help.

Oh. I'm a Biology major if that matters with a 3.3 GPA.

THANK YOU!

Why are you transferring to UCD then, if your main intent is to transfer to UCSD for winter?

I was supposed to be going to UCSD in the fall… but I didn’t get in. Plus I don’t want to be living at home. But thats beside the point. My question is, will UCSD accept my TAG being at both UCD and the CC in the Fall?

I don’t think you can do that, because isn’t TAG just CC-exclusive? Well, I guess with your case since you aren’t a real Davis student you might be an exception.

I think if you really want to go to UCSD, forget UCD and do not go. Continue your CC classes during the fall - BUT - in July apply to UCSD using TAG so you have the guarantee on you. You should be able to attend UCSD in early 2010. I think going to UCD may comprimise the tag agreement if taking classes at UCD are over the 90 unit cap.

“TAG does not apply to students with senior class standing (students with 90 or more UC transferable semester units or 135 quarter units) from accredited four-year universities and community colleges combined. … All UC transferable units completed at a 4-year university apply toward the limit of 90 semester units or 135 quarter units.”

You should ask a rep, but according to the website, only the 90 units catch with attending UCD might be the only issue.

Don’t bother going to UCD. It’ll compromise your chances at getting into UCSD for the winter quarter. Go to a ccc and TAG it up in July for UCSD so you can apply for the winter quarter and I’ll probably see you around La Jolla by early 2010.

alright so i got a question about the 2010 winter tag. I have a 2.95 gpa right now and are they really strict about the 3.0 because i wanted to take the summer off. Will a 2.95 still qualify for the tag?

@Savage - No, it doesn’t. Now’s not the time to be taking a summer off, especially if it puts you at risk of not being accepted.

Yeah, 3.0 is the minimum G.P.A. you can have in order to sign a TAG and have it actually be worth something.

Anyone know if UCI and USCD are open for this Winter?
