I gave my SAT exam thrice. First attempt(may)-1780. Second attempt(june)-1890. Third attempt(october)-1860. My GPA is 4. I have done 4 months of community service. I have held the sports captain leadership in high school for two consecutive years. I have won many athletic meets and basketball trophies. Won an all rounder award. Head of the environmental club and the organising team and a core member of the computer science club. What are my chances of getting into UCSD?
Depends upon your intended major. Engineering/STEM is probably a Reach. Other majors a Low Reach/High Match.
Engineering. But do they just look at my SAT score? I know my score is low but my did well in high school…
Also, my co-curricular activity list is pretty strong(there’s more to it)
When it comes to competitive majors, you need to be above the average Stats which you are not. Since I cannot predict how your essays and Ec’s will be received by admissions, my chances are based on your academics only. You have good EC’s but I see little devoted to an Engineering major other than CS club.
The engineering major is extremely impacted and if you have struggled with the SAT, it doesn’t make you competitive.
I agree with @Gumbymom, any STEM-related field will be a reach.
If you are international, it will be even tougher. As a non resident, you will not qualify for any financial aid, so you would need to be prepared to pay OOS fees of $55K per year if admitted.
@“aunt bea” there would be no financial issues, I’m sure.
Thank you for your guidances @aunt bea and @Gumbymom , I really hope I get into my dream university.
