<p>from what i heard, it's pretty damn competitive at ucsd. that's why i chose uci.</p>
<p>I'm getting mixed signals on the level of competition there...some people say it's pretty relaxed but others say the complete opposite...</p>
<p>As for me, IMHO the impacted majors are probably the ones who carry the brunt of the competitive streak, UCSD is probably only relaxed in comparison to cutthroat Cal & UCLA, and that its reputation for being anti-social is not entirely unfounded...</p>
<p>however, since I'm going there and was intent on going there, I'm going to say that college is only what you make of it despite whatever stigma that the said institution is reputed for. from what i could perceive of the ucsd lj community site, it seems to me like most students enjoy it there and are sad to leave.</p>

<p>It depends on your major and goals. If you're a pre-health student (pharm, med, dental) it's going to be ****en harsh there, for example.</p>
