UCSD's The Village

I had mine turned in at 10:18 A.M. (18 min past the time I received the email) and they haven’t called me yet :S

Wow, I feel bad…I didn’t submit mine until about 1:00, and I already got the call.

Well that’s great. Good for you though. It’s their fault and I’ll be sure to remind them of that ;D

As far as what details to have ready for when they call you…they will ask you whether you want a single or double (depending on space availability) and whether you prefer Village West or Village East, and then they’ll ask you which building. I was hoping for a view, but I had to settle for the fourth floor since I wanted a single more than anything.

Ok then, sound good. I have about 7 plans, but we’ll see what I get at this point =_=.

which buildings have ocean views anyway?

West Tower and East Tower should have views. Well the West at least.
For those of you still waiting on the call, check your UCSD email. I didn’t get a call but they sent me an email saying I missed a call. Maybe a wrong number or something but check your UCSD.

can someone that has received the call tell me exactly what they asked?

I tell you almost a line by line recount of who the call went for me.

The Village: Hey I’m calling for So and So.

Me: This is her.

The Village: Hi I’m calling from the village to help you with your room section. I see here you preferred a single…

Me: Yeah that is my preference but I know they are hard to come by.

The Village: Well I see here you also requested substance free housing.

Me: Yes that isn’t a deal breaker but it is a preference.

The Village well we do have a single in substance free housing. Were there any other preferences?

Me: Well I prefer the lay-outs with the Shower and Toilet separate.

The Village: Well the single is in room 9xx.

Me: Well I’m Looking at the layout and that one isn’t separated but that’s fine having a single is more important.

The Village: That’s great then your room is in 9XX room number X, you’ll get an email later in the week to confirm your room and be able to contact your roommates.

Me: Thank you.

It’s not much of a combo, since I was getting a single there isn’t much to ask about roommates and since I wanted a single and I preferred substance free I didn’t have a lot of choices to began with so not many questions to ask. I figure that there may be more questions for other people. But have some lay-out favorites in mind, if a single is your priority then you may just have to take what you can get, but if you end up in a double there would be more to chose from.

No call today. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

I just want a single. Don’t care about views, floors, bathrooms, or anything.

Go figure, I check my UCSD email and there it is: “URGENT! Time to select your space!”

I know for an absolute fact that I put that phone number in correctly and it didn’t ring all day. Guess I gotta call them in the morning.

^ Same…no freaking call. I went back and checked that I did everything correctly. And I actually submitted it 1.5 hours after the email was sent, not 2 hours. Frustrating.

how do you go back and check?

hey guys! i’ve got a question.
I sent my contract with prepayment at around 2pm on the day we got the e-mail. On Friday around 4pm, I got an e-mail on my UCSD e-mail saying that the check was invalid due to a invalid routing/account number. (Stupid me, must have typed 1 number in wrong or something)… Anyways, I repaid the prepayment, and the check doesn’t seem to be invalid. In the e-mail it says, “Your Housing space is not guaranteed until valid prepayment is received. To avoid losing your on-campus housing space, you must resubmit your $650 prepayment.” Does this mean I lost my position in line to choose? I paid it, so I know my space is still there, but did I get pushed to the back of the line?
The e-mail doesn’t make it clear at all, and they didn’t understand what I was getting to when I called… the guy kept thinking that I didn’t pay, and I kept repeating saying that I did, it was invalid, so I paid again. but he didn’t get it. gahhh. Anyways, any advice or help would be amazing!

Hey grimes, you said your summer housing was in east village building 3, right? That’s where I’m going to be this fall.

Let me know how the building is (laundry room, terrace?, meeting rooms, etc.). I’d like to learn more about it.

@SDhopeful: Yup, I’m in 3041 I think. It’s nice but I just dumped my stuff off yesterday and haven’t had a chance to go exploring the area. I’ll keep you updated.

Update:

I just called back and got the very last single (according to the person who ran the search for me.) Building 3 Village East (where I’m at now) one floor below me.

Downside? It’s the RA room! Haha.

That sucks because i really wanted a single. I sent the contract pre payment 3 hours after i received the email and didnt get a call. So i just called back and they told me that they call in the order they received the pre contract and said they would call me either today or sometime this week…so frustrating.

SDhopeful, Same thing happen to me, wrong number I fixed it immediately and honestly it hasn’t come up. They still say claimed to have called me pretty earlier and I still got a single.

I have until 9/1/2011 to cancel and only lose $250 of my $650, so it’s not too bad.
