<p>Village East is set up as four-bedroom apartments, generally three singles and a double, with a living room, kitchen, and two (I think) bathrooms.</p>
<p>Between the four other people in your apartment, and everyone in the surrounding apartments, and the opportunities to socialize during mealtime, singles should be fine.</p>
<p>I believe all transfers are now guaranteed two years of housing, if they live on campus the first year.</p>

<p>Yea i got accepted and turned in my housing app… But i havent gotten much direction for the village timeline. I am definetly trying to live at the village and crossing my fingers for a single!</p>
<p>If I got accepted, my friend and I would apply for The Village. I have a friend in engineering who currently attended UCSD and he listed his friend on the application. They were placed together. Living in a double wouldn’t be bad if I were with my friends. Otherwise…single all the way.</p>
<p>@Grimes99 hahah yeaaaah for high school i did the drive from chula vista to del mar so that was even worse. CC was a little bit above the 8, eeehhh kinda not bad. UCSD will be farther. on top of that my car is diesel so my gas will burn slowly but still expensive >_<</p>
<p>Does anyone know how the Village’s substance-free floors/apartments are? I’m a t teetotaler myself, but for personal, not religious reasons. I’m not anti-drinking, but I’m sure I’d fit in better with others who don’t drink. I wouldn’t want to be the buzz I’ll, haha.</p>
<p>However… If the substance-free housing is occupied by ultra-religious types or something, I’d probably prefer to be in the regular section.</p>
<p>^You could probably find a room in an apartment for less, but the loss of convenience, the reduction in networking opportunities, and the loss of the dining dollars (they suck, but I’d still get some food out of them) is what encourages me to live on-campus.</p>
<p>I’m a pretty introverted guy, so I need college to be the place where I build up connections. Living on-campus helps with that, particularly for people like me. If you’re a social butterfly you’ll probably be fine either way.</p>
<p>Just gonna throw this out there, but you might not have the greatest odds of getting a single. Current residents also have priority for room selection. </p>

<p>@Grimes99 i went to a catholic school haha and it relocated from linda vista to del mar. i didn’t want to change schools because i made my friends already and i liked it haha.</p>
<p>Politricks, how full is Torrey Pines West? Do you know if students were turned away last year because of a lack of space? </p>
<p>East essentially doubles the number of beds, and also has a lot more singles. So if West was at or below capacity, it’s conceivable that many West doubles would only have one occupant next year.</p>
<p>I know the singles were really hard to come by, and that the tower (building 1) rooms fill up quick because everyone wants an ocean view. If i had to guess I’d say its somewhere between 85 and 90% full. Don’t think they sold out this year, but don’t quote me on it.</p>

<p>how social is the village? i know each suite holds 5-6 people, but do you guys get along with the others on the floor? how is the social environment with the other people in your suite?</p>
<p>If I go to the Village I would definitely want a single,but I’m a little worried about the bathroom and shower situation, having to share with strangers. It would be so much better if single rooms had their own bathroom.</p>
