I don't know much about great medical schools at the moment, except for UCSF. Are there other schools to consider that I should know about or should I just stick to this one? This would also help me choose which undergrad university to commit to. Thanks!

There are many other great medical schools, and as long as you go to a US allopathic school, you can’t go to a bad school. The difference between the “best” med school and the “worst” is really pretty small in the overall scheme of things.

Absolutely, 100% do NOT choose an undergraduate school based on med school considerations - no matter if you’re working towards a particular location or ANY medical school. If you’re going to be competitive for medical school, it’ll be due to what you in college rather than the name on your diploma.

Also, the other question, when it comes to medical schools as a pre-med is: do you want to be a doctor or a graduate of the UCSF College of Medicine? To put it bluntly, if it’s the latter, you need to reevaluate your priorities and whether this is the right career field for you.
