We had a terrific decision day visit. My D was accepted into Nursing, so I had the opportunity to put a face to @mwallenmd. He did a nice presentation about his daughters success and how UD gave her the tools to achieve new heights. I did tried to say hello at the end, but you were speaking with the girl who was deciding between Penn and UD. While some thought the day was disorganized, I felt the open format gave us the opportunity to pick and choose what we wanted to to see and do. We took advantage of the information session and the tour of Mcdowell halls facilities. I found the the faculty to be very knowledgeable and friendly. It was important to me that they also had personality. My experience, some 30 yrs ago (not UD), was that profs in certain fields can be very cold and uninspiring. This was not the case with the people we met. The students were also very happy and enthusiastic. My D was much more relaxed as she felt the structure of the program through the students and faculty. Touring 3 residence halls also gave her an idea of the possible room configurations. The students in these rooms were all very pleasant and helpful with our questions. All in all, a great day. We are very happy with her decision to attend, as is she. Good luck to all, I hope your decisions are as easy.

My son and I also had a great experience. He’s in business. We both enjoyed the open ended format - it allowed us to see what we wanted. The weather was terrific and as he said the whole experience just solidified his decision to go go to UD.

My son and husband went on the 19th – a day after touring Georgia Tech with admitted students there. This was his 4th tour for admitted students this month and he was, by far, the most impressed with UD. Since I can only speak from secondhand knowledge of the day, it sounded to me like the enthusiasm of the students and the knowledgeable professors and staff really won him over. The campus was gorgeous, too, and the small-town feel of Newark appealed to him over all other campuses he visited – especially GT’s urban campus in Atlanta. Like HopefulUDMom2018 stated, the open ended format was nice. They saw everything they wanted to see and heard some great talks. He mulled it over for a day and paid his deposit last night! We’re thrilled he chose Delaware! I wish you all good luck too and hope you’re happy in your and your child’s decision for the next four years.

Sull29:
Thank you for your kind words. Sorry I missed you. Good luck to your D in UD Nursing. She is in for a very challenging but rewarding experience as long a she applies herself to the best of her abilities, which I am sure she will. If you have any further questions regarding the Nursing Program please free to PM me.

Congrats to all those others who have decided to attend UD as well. In fact, congrats to all as you start your college careers no matter where you choose to go. You probably won’t believe this while in college but later on in your life I suspect most of you will look back on your college years and identify them as some of the best in your life. Take care and be safe.

For UD to tell prospective students they are providing transportation to South Campus, then leave at least 8 families stranded while giving them conflicting information to wait in 3 different locations for said transportation, causing them to miss their info session, is quite unprofessional. In addition to being friendly, the Blue Hen Ambassadors should have accurate information! Worst college visit ever.

I’m amazed you even got to South campus before the info session… that’s quite a trip… is your child interested in the Agriculture school to take the trip down there? Where were you told to park that costs $12 too? Very strange as parking validations were all over the place… I liked it much better two years ago when you got a UD card with your parking, meals etc… all in one place but wow… you sound like you won the prize for being mixed up on your visit. I don’t even know where to begin… Did you get to your destination for the session at all? I’m sure they would have arranged a private info meeting. What was your major? After doing two of these decision days I just have so many questions and quite surprised by your experience. Not typical at all… yes more disjointed this year than the past one I went to but I felt the schedule they provided via email and in person gave a lot of info.

Hi lefty1 - we parked at the open lot we were told to park at - cost $4 to leave first time (machine - no person there) then we took the car out to drive to south campus, came back and parked again and it cost $8 to get car out second time. No one offered a voucher. Got to College of AG 1/3 into info session; since no one around to give info, walked in to wrong session in progress - so yes, missed D’s info session entirely. Schedule on ap D downloaded did not say where to get shuttle to S campus and ambassadors gave conflicting info. First student panel (9:30) was not on emailed schedule; lines so long to tour residence halls, missed second student panel. Left with little info to make decision and certainly not impressed with U Del!

That is such a shame… the Ag school is wonderful. My D is a business major but she is heavily involved with the AG school as she raises a dog for Seeing Eye and many of her friends are in the AG school. She even joined the professional sorority involved with the AG school. There are so many wonderful opportunities with those programs. D has several sorority sisters graduating this May and they have been offered amazing employment opportunities. This weekend coming up is the schools AG day and really showcases all that is great about this program. Yeah… I waited to do dorm tours after any info sessions. That was the real reason we went this time. There was some searching involved on the app as to where to attend your specific program but luckily my son’s was easily found. I’m surprised they had you park at a lot without the Blue Hen Ambassadors. It’s a shame you had such an unrealistic view of the school. I wish your D all the best at the school she chooses.

Thx - your info is helpful!
