With your being a Delaware resident with your extremely high stats/legacy status/family contacts with UD it is fairly obvious to me that you probably would easily be accepted into the honors program at UD and beyond that, I feel you probably it would cost you little, if any, out of pocket money to attend. All the other schools you mentioned are extremely expensive/highly competitive and even if you get some scholarship money I would venture to guess that you would probably end up having to pay 20K-30K yearly to attend. If you are planning to attend Graduate/Professional School after college it would probably be in your best interest to attend UD and save your money for post grad study (unless money is not an issue). Doing well (and it sounds like you love school) at UD will get you into the same level of grad schools as any of the schools you mentioned. It would be my best “guess” that of the schools you listed that you would have the best chance of admission to BU, GW and BC. All the others will probably be more difficult (for a variety of reasons) but with your stats/etc. I think you have a “shot” at any of them (least so probably at Brown). Just my thoughts. Best of luck to you.

Hi I also applied to UDel Honors program and I’m really nervous about whether or not I’m going to be accepted because I need the possible merit scholarship in order to attend. Please chance me if you have the time!

GPA- 3.7 (although I feel it will be higher after my senior year grades, if this makes a difference?)
SATS- CR 710 Math 620 Writing 720 1330/1600 2050/2400
EC’s- 30 hours of volunteering at a hospital, Cross Country captain 2 years, Winter Track, Varsity Lacrosse, Scholar Athlete Awards, President of Italian Honor Society, National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Peer Mentoring for 2 years, Community Service Club.
I’m pretty sure I wrote a good honors application essay and my recs are good but I’m really nervous about being accepted into the honors program. Please chance me?

As long as you wrote a good essay it would be my perspective that you have a very good chance of being accepted into the Honors Program. You should be aware that most , if not all, students accepted into the Honors Program from OOS receive some level of merit scholarship money, but the amount is highly variable. Only a relatively small number of these OOS students receive full scholarships including room and board. With your stats I feel you will certainly get some merit scholarship money but I can’t even guess at the amount. Delaware also provides need based scholarship money for OOS students so if you qualify this would add to the total amount of scholarship money you might get. Actually, just FYI, UD does award merit scholarship money to students not applying (or accepted) to the Honors Program, so even if you were not accepted into the Honors Program you probably would still get at least some merit money. Hope this info is helpful. Best wishes to you.

Thanks… haha it is weird to see this thread revived, but my SAT’s are better now than they were than when I posted this, I now have a 2160 800CR, 640M, 720 Wr and my class rank was actually top 15% when I checked but Im pulling above a 3.9 UW for this semester so that’s good at least. So if anyone wants to chance me, use those stats and thanks. Oh and my subject test scores were 700 in USH and Lit.
