My d was accepted to both for Chemical Engineering. Anyone have any thoughts as to which school is better and why?

UDEL ranked 10th
CMU ranked 15th

Thanks

If rank is an important factor to her, I think that the rankings are close enough that she can make her decision based upon other factors, such as cost, distance, campus preference, etc.

Cost is a factor. CMU is top $

In general I think that CMU has a better reputation, but for Chemical Engineering, UD is very well regarded, as your ratings show. I would go with UD, especially since you say it is cheaper.

CMU may have a better national reputation, but that is mostly the result of their computer science programs. UD has a fabulous chemcial engineering program and the job opprotunities in the local area are unbeatable, DuPont and Gore literally next door. So much recruitment is straight from UD. I live in the local area and cannot tell you the number of engineers around me. I would most certainly pick UD, save money, either go to grad school or just have a bunch of money left over. For engineering it is the way to go.
