Hi all. So I was recently admitted to both UDel and IU as a psychology major. I want to do business now specifically marketing or even management. I do not think as psychology degree has much value even though I love the subject and everything about it. At Indiana University Kelley School of Business, I would need to meet very hard requirements like a 3.5 GPA and basically all A’s in hard classes my first year. I would have to take a risk and try working my booty off. I would be restricted by social life and all my academics would be my main focus. I will not be able to live a little or rush a sorority even. But at the end of the day, the school is far from me since I live in NY but the job offers are great once a Kelley graduate. On the other hand, we have University of Delaware. The tuition is cheaper for me, they gave me some money with a grant (but not so much which is a big factor) I emailed an advisor there and I asked if I could double major in psych and business (the requirements aren’t difficult to get in) and they said that it could be difficult in 4 years so I would have to bulk up my classes or take classes during the winter or summer time (which is fine I guess although I guess I don’t mind bulking up.) It would be less pressure and I would be able to get a good college experience. Obviously, the business school isn’t as good as Kelley. But my plans after college are to go to law school, so I guess it doesn’t even matter. But if I were at Kelley and was offered a job as soon as I graduated like most people do, then i wouldn’t even worry about law school. But regardless, even if law school isn’t for me, I have a business degree from a decently good school for business (and psych) which I could rely on in case or even go on to getting an MBA if I feel the need to. I know this is long. I am just a bit confused and do not want to regret my decision!! What would you do if you were me?
UDel graduates get good jobs too.
See if you could take organizational psychology classes (basically, psychology applied to business).
UDel psych + business sounds like the very best deal for you - you get to study what you want and you don’t have to take the huge risks IU entails.
