I'm trying to decide between these three schools for civil/environmental engineering. Can anyone give me insight into which has the better program/would be the best choice? (I've visited all three, and I like them pretty much equally)

Lehigh and Syracuse I'm familiar with... I'm not familiar with UDel, which might not be a good thing (means that I haven't seen anybody from there at UIUC's grad program or either of the two pretty-darned-good firms I've worked for). I've heard good things about Lehigh's program, and I've worked with a few people from Syracuse who've been pretty sharp and who've done well with our company. Based upon my own personal experience (and this is just gut instinct, I have absolutely nothing aside from people-I've-encountered to back this up) I'd rank it Syracuse, Lehigh, then Delaware.

Definitely don't take my opinion as the only one, though. Check out course choices and see how many civ/env undergrads there are in each program... A smaller program might be more supportive for you, but you still want to see a good spread of courses.

thanks for your imput.
anyone else have any insight?

no one else?

If you want to go purely by rankings, then it goes like this:

Lehigh #37
Delaware #52
Syracuse #76

But schools are so much more than their rankings. Consider cost, distance from home, the atmosphere on campus, size, location (rural, urban, suburban), ease of travel for visits home, etc.

thank you.

I was wondering, does anyone else have any personal experience in one of the engineering schools I mentioned?

My son is currently a freshman at UD, majoring in mechanical engineering. If you have some specific questions, I can ask him. I can say that he is very happy there. He already has a well paying internship for the summer, which he obtained as a result of a job fair he attended at UD.

Cool! Yeah I have no specific questions, just wanted to hear some comments about the different schools, I'm having trouble deciding.
