My son just got his appeal decision in the mail. It was granted and he has been admitted for the Fall. So he has a huge dilemma in that we all talked ourselves into FSU being a good fit for him. In fact he really was all in on heading to Tallahassee. We don’t have deep roots in Florida so were not emotionally connected to either school. UF is better ranked and only a couple hours up the road from us as opposed to the 3-4 hour drive to FSU, but he really liked the campus at FSU when we toured. I don’t want to turn this into that debate, but I wanted to post that his appeal was successful and now our heads are spinning. A good problem to have I know. Good luck to everyone else waiting on the decision.
One other thing does anyone think they will be able to get it on the 4/13 admitted student days? The letter only just came, today, Saturday, and online it looks like you had to register for it by Friday.
So, I just got my admissions letter in the mail today! The only problem is that they spelled my name wrong, so that may be the reason that it is not loading online for me. I will be calling admission tomorrow. I’m so excited!
@CrazyDad9 congratulations on your son getting accepted! What date did he submit his appeal? Also, did his online application status page change? Thanks.
@ProudParent2020 I think we emailed it out on 3/5 and his acceptance letter was dated 4/5 and received by us on 4/7. The crazy thing is I called on 4/6 and they told me it still was under review. I think I read somewhere that the letters go out first and it takes a few days for it to get into the computer which is odd. Also it’s somewhat concerning because this delay could result in him being further behind in getting his housing contract in, although we put the $25 deposit in way back in November when he first applied. Good luck
I just checked my decision online and it is all updated! The typo was just on the letter thank goodness everything else was fine on the website. I should be getting my gatorlink stuff by like wednesday so I will be able to sign up for housing and preview and everything, I will let y’all know how that goes and the process since I am signing up for all of this so much later than those admitted in February.
@CrazyDad9 The preferences are due by the end of the month but I read somewhere that they don’t start actually assigning rooms until next month. So as long as your son fills out his preferred room type you should be fine.
Congratulations on this great news! We are still waiting and I’m so anxious as well as my son… We submitted our appeal packet March 13 and still haven’t heard and we’re praying he gets accepted…Was your appeal dramatic? This waiting is killing us and this is where he wants to be…
My son’s online stuff is now updated but haven’t got the email link yet to set up his gatorlink but I hope its coming soon as we want to just jump in and get him all signed up quickly. For what its worth, his dalliance with FSU has passed now that its sunk in that he can be a Gator this Fall. Out with his FSU hat in with the UF one!
As far as the appeal it was fairly dramatic as he overcame significant health issues his Junior year and he detailed what that was like for him while maintained his straight A average. Good luck to all still waiting.
Congratulations to all the Gators! Sadly, we will not be with you, but are excited to going with Garnet and Gold.
@GoGatorGirl IT wasn’t particularly dramatic, just honest and professional.
@CrazyDad9 They said 48 hours from the day it updates online that the gatorlink information should be sent out
@Bullg8tr I’m so sorry to hear that, but good to know that you had a backup plan throughout this whole process!
@Browneyez3 did you get the gatorlink email yet? Its been couple days since my son’s online status changed to accepted but no email as of yet.
@CrazyDad9 I have not received an email yet with my gatorlink code. I talked to admission and they basically said that it can take a few days for everything to update on ALL of the servers. So it may be updated on our side and on the side of admin but not completely updated on the IT side that is in charge of setting up all of the gatorlink stuff. They told me to wait a few more days and then send out another email, so I’m waiting until Monday before I bother them again. I’m hoping that it’ll be updated by today or tomorrow though since they said the average time was 48-72 hours.
@Browneyez3 Thanks. We haven’t gotten it yet either. We are very anxious to get all signed up and registered for the summer orientation which I hear is filling up fast. Also as we live only a couple hours away we plan on walking up and trying to get in on the last accepted student day tomorrow. Hope they don’t kick us out because he doesn’t have his gatorlink yet.
@CrazyDad9 Even if you can’t “register” for Florida days, I’m sure you can visit the open house events, and tour the campus…no one checks the badges they had out in the morning… You may want to go ahead and download the Gatorway app, if you haven’t done so already.
Also, whatever info is covered is the morning sessions, would also be covered during preview, so it’s a bit redundant.
@Gator88NE Thanks so much for chiming in. I was hoping you might as I know from reading your posts how informed you are on UF.
I have that app and we plan to crash the party. My son is very excited to learn more about UF. By the way do you know what the preview dates are for this summer? I cant find specific dates online and I cant register yet without the gatorlink we are waiting on. We are anxious to have an idea of when we will need to plan to be there. Thanks again for sharing your expertise on all things Gator.
I don’t think they’ve yet to published the dates for Preview. After Florida Days, they likely will remove Florida Days and add “Session Dates” to the Gatorway app. The Summer B sessions are in May, while the Fall sessions start in June and run through July. I think we also got an e-mail notification and reminder to sign-up for Preview.
Last year, we selected the first session, after HS graduation (the 2nd week in June). I think they have one late session in August, the week before school starts. They also have 1 day sessions for transfer students, and 2 day sessions for PaCE students. Make sure you select the right session :
Still no letter in the mail for my son…feeling hopeless! He actually submitted 03/09/2108 and haven’t gotten a response…does this mean it’s definitely a “NO” since all these deadlines are coming to a close to sign up for orientation, etc!!! This is sooo upsetting and frustrating…I am praying for a miracle…need to know…
Hi! I submitted my appeal mid March, and my appeal, I guess you can say was serious reasoning. It was about my health condition I’ve faced throughout high school. It caused me to miss school, and take online/easier classes, but I remained with straight A’s. Anyways, I haven’t heard anything back yet, does that mean it’s a no? Should I call admissions? Thanks!
@GoGatorGirl & @Emilykuts Have you been checking your portal where the initial decision was posted on Feb 9? That is where we first learned of the appeal decision. The mail took several days longer. Also, I heard that they review the appeals on Wednesdays, and it takes them a couple of days to update the system and send notifications. The portal was updated Monday afternoon in our case.
Thanks for the feedback. We have been checking the portal daily and still see that dreadful 02/09 letter of denial…it’s just getting closer and closer to May 1st and we are so
