The AP is in the UF house…nothing like waiting until the last minute. See you later

what are your guys’ stats?

proud mom,
did he have 27 credits by the time he applied? im at 15 right now and “if” i pass all my ap tests this year should end up with 27 credits. and did he get them all from ap’s or did he dual enroll?

i have around 35 credits to UF with the AP exams that i’ve passed and i’m going to have close to 50 credits by the time i graduate. does this mean i will be considered as a semi-transfer student? or does that only apply to high school students who dual enroll…

paigetherage,
Your AP credit does not count like the credit of those who dual enroll (or the credit of transfer students). My d also had a ton of AP credit. UF only allows you to count 45 hours of it. So, she picked and chose which would benefit her most.

zebes

me: had everything in by sept 2nd
Stats:
GPA: 4.0 in UF’s terms, 3.6 unweighted,
School: Attended a very competitive prep school
Course load: As rigorous as I could take (IB diploma student, 8 AP’s/IB’s and 10 honors courses. NO non-academic courses in junior OR senior year)
Tests: 31 on ACT, 33 superscored
Extracurrics: Solid, including 80 hours of service and 3 years of two varsity sports
Essay: Pretty good, according to those who read it for me anyway

that’s weird andre my unweighted is 3.3 and i have a 3.95 uf gpa…

I applied in mid-October. Here are my stats…tell me what you think! (I HOPE I GET IN!!!)

GPA: 4.47 weighted, 3.88 in UF’s terms
Rank: 35 out of 430; top 8.1%
Course load: All honors, AP Lang in Junior year; AP Lit, AP Psych, AP Gov, & AP CalcAB senior year.
SAT: 1190/1600, 1830/2400

Volunteering: 395 service hours
Essay: It’s very unique, and moving. Probably one of the best essays I have ever written.
Extras: My dad’s alumni

proudmom,
UF is likely students if they think that UF is only a “safety” school for them.

palmbeach561: he had 26 actual college credits because his senior year he participated in a “Collegiate High School”, which is very similar to duel enrollment. Apparently this is different than having x number of credits from AP and IB classes. The other thing that may have hurt him was that he graduated from an IB high school, but left the IB program to attend a local university full-time his senior year. UF is really into IB students and if you attend one and are not in the IB program it can hurt your chances far more than if you graduate from a non-IB high school.

im in a science technology engineering and math program but im not takin the classes anymore but its really non restrictive and i can still graduate with the diploma if i meet certain criteria. but it’s not half as serious as some of the stuff ive heard from my friends in ib at other schools, but hopefullly uf won’t know that hahah

do national merit semifinalists get rejected?

I hope I get in as well although my application may not be as dazzling as some of the others…

4.6 weighted GPA/3.84 UF GPA
2060/2400 SAT (M 690/V 680/W 690) + 680 chemistry subject test.
A plethora of extracurricular activities (leadership with JROTC, vice president of SECME (engineering club), NHS, tutoring, Mu Alpha Theta, etc.). Over 1000 hours of community service.
Wrote an amazing essay according to my English teacher…it was about the difficulty I encountered upon arrival to this country.
I’ve done dual-enrollment with a local community college (have a 4.0 GPA in that program) and I’ve taken copious AP classes.
Awards: Association of the U.S. Army Medal, U.S. Army Recruiting Command Medal, drill team varsity letter, superior honor roll, dean’s list for high GPA (dual-enrollment), and some school awards for outstanding achievement in classes.
Senior year: AP U.S. Government, AP Calculus AB, AP Physics B, Intro to IT, AP Spanish Language, and AP English Literature.

I’m aware that because I’m in the low 25% in terms of GPA, I don’t have a significant chance. However, I got into the Burnett Honors College (UCF) so I’m not too worried…

Good luck to everyone and I will be sure to post my admission decision as soon as I receive it! :)

How do you figure your “UF gpa?” I have no idea what this is

I have the same question as Technomancer: is it possible to get rejected as a NMSF?

Looony: A = 4.0 B=3.0 C=2.0 D=1.0 (pluses and minuses don’t matter)
Add 1 point for AP or IB courses and add .5 points for Honors courses.

UF recalculates your high school GPA but instead of including meaningless classes, only academic subjects are used in the calculation — English, math, social sciences, sciences and foreign languages. Then they add extra weight for more challenging classes. .5 extra is added to honors, pre-AICE, pre-IB, and pre-AP classes and 1 point extra is added to AP, dual-enrollment, IB, and AICE classes. So let’s say you get an A in AP chemistry and a B in honors chemistry. The AP class will be factored in as a 5 instead of a 4 and the honors class will be factored in as a 3.5 instead of a 3. This weighting system applies to all classes in which the applicant received a C or higher however, so failing grades don’t count.

Loony2nz: you are instate, so just go on virtual counselor and check what your child’s academic core GPA is (the middle of the three posted GPA’s)…that is VERY close to your UF (or any FL state universities) recalculated GPA.

Virtual counselor is only available for students in Broward County…

what happens if I submitted my application by 11:59pm on Nov. 1st but didn’t pay the application fee until about 12:05?

This is what my status says:

sorry my question is:

is my application considered on time or on space basis?
