I’m an accepted transfer from CT…it’s tough but doable to transfer in. I don’t know what the Sports Management program is like, but if it’s not such a popular major, that might help your chances.

hmm, not true. I am a transfer student, changed my major twice … (even between colleges)
from Math (clas) -> Elec.Eng. (eng) -> Computer Sci (eng)

of course don’t try to change to a major that is inside of clas , i dont think they will have that… oh no they won’t

college of engineering is lax… i could probably walk in there tomorrow with my 100 credits and say change my major to computer engineering , and they would be like … “sign here”

Applied for Spring 2011
3.8 GPA from CC
Waiting…

Same here my friend.

Applied 7/22/10 into Agricultural and Animal Sciences College for Animal Biology for Spring 2011… and waiting.
Application is at the Agricultural and Animal Sciences college now for the final decision… but has been like that for the past 2-3 weeks. I’m getting really anxious.

I waited about 4 months with that same message, so be patient…it could take awhile. I was accepted to CALS tho…good luck!

Festivus, when did you apply? what college and major?

Hmm I think I applied somewhere around the break between summer a and b. College is the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and my major is physics.
Got my AA in high school which got me rejected when I applied as a freshman (there was nothing on their website about needing prereqs). Went to UCF for a year and now I’m at Santa Fe till (hopefully) spring.

hey festivus, i talked to the CLAS two weeks ago and they said that decisions should be going out from this week!

Hey everyone. A Transfer 2011 Thread hasn’t been made yet, I guess it’s kinda early for one haha, but here’s my situation:

My HS stats were:
GPA: 4.12 weighted
SAT: 1220/1600
ACT: 28

I attend UCF, I am a micro and molecular biology major, this is my first year, first term, currently enrolled in Chemistry I, Biology I, Calculus I and American National Government.

So far, everything’s been extremely easy, just Calc is giving me a bit of trouble, just cause I’m not a great math student, first test I think i did very well, I may get an A but i dont remember whether or not I messed up on some Chain Rule stuff, haha.

Chem and Bio i got 100’s on the first tests, 97 on the first test in gov’t. Took our second biology test today, I am fairly confident I only missed 1, 2-3 max. So I’m well on my way to a 4.0, 3.73 GPA at least for this first semester. Next semester should be better since I wont have calc, Chem II will be a breeze for me since I got a 5 on the AP chem exam, but retaking it all for Premed purposes.

So, what are my chances? And when is a good time to apply?

Thanks man!

You have a good shot, but I’m pretty sure you need your AA/ prereqs first for your major. If you have them, then good deal. If not…
Anyways, it is much harder for a university transfer to get in to Florida than a community college transfer (Someone on this board said it was 10% vs 90%). My advice is that if you REALLY want to get into UF, go to a community college and get your AA and prereqs there, then transfer in. It doesn’t matter if you’ve attended a university or not, just on where you get your AA from.

Also, who do you have for Calc I? I had Griffiths for I and Reed for II. I recommend both. :)

Crap, haha, transferring to a CC isn’t really an option for me… ughh haha.
For Calc, I have Martinenko, he’s a big russian guy, kinda old, but not very old. He’s got a THICK THICK russian accent, but that’s not really the problem, it’s just he is really into interesting, multistep, thinking outside of the box kind of questions, which is fun and all, but when they are on quizes and tests, it’s kind of a pain, haha.

I do have 31 credit hours from AP and IB exam scores, walking in to UCF, 15 credit hours this semester, and probably 14 credit hours next semester, so I will have 61 credit hours when they look at my application (Spring semster courses will be on the “courses in progress” section of the application)

Is that considered almost the same as the AA? Would it help me out?

Actually I got some good news. According to UF’s website:

So it looks like you’d only need:
-Bio I and II, both with labs
-Chem I and II, both with labs
-Orgo I or Physics I with labs
-Calc I and II

As always, call/ meet with an adviser. I’m pretty sure that your major is in either the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences or the agriculture college. Either way, call or go at least twice. I went to two different advisers in one month and got two completely different answers. I’m not sure if you’d be classified as a university or community college transfer either, which is huge.

As for Prof Martinenko, I’m pretty sure I’ve seen him but I don’t know anything other than that. If you do end up taking Calc II at UCF, I highly recommend Griffiths or Reed. :)

Someone called UF and was told decisions would be made this week for transfers? Can anyone give anymore insight to that? Will our admission decision be on our status check (like freshman applicants) or will they notify us through regular mail? I understand UF’s “unofficial” decision is electronically, then they mail you a hard letter. Just wondering if it’s any different for transfers. Thanks!

Yeah I wont need Calc II, but yeah if I do decide to take it, I’ll definitely take Griffiths or Reed, thanks :)

Well technically, wouldn’t I only need Bio I and II w labs and Chem I and II with labs, I wouldnt need orgo I after freshman year, cause I still am a first year student. I’ll take Physics I though, but that’s gonna be a kinda tough schedule w/ Bio II, Chem II (even though this will be pretty easy), and Physics I.

ACCEPTED! SPRING 2011 :)

stephanie401 - yes, I’ve had email contact with the advisors at both CLAS and the Microbiology program. They told me that decision will be sent out in 2-4 weeks, and that was 2 weeks ago. i checked online and it was updated with my decision on Saturday. So go check! if you dont’ see nothing, i’m sure you’ll get something soon, first orientation is the first week of Nov, so they’ll have to notify you soon.

colombianito69: congrats on being accepted!!

Okay, thanks for letting me know! I’ll be checking to see if anything changes.

colombianito69, congratulations!!! You are doing microbiology? What was your GPA? Where’d you transfer from?

And once again, congratulations!!! :)

Thanks yes microbiology and cell science at College of Liberal Arts and Science. I transferred from Valencia CC and have a 3.8 GPA
