Active in Church and Service clubs.

Do I have a change of getting in? I would love to go to UF and be a gator next year. Thank you for the input

Your chances look pretty good, though your SAT is on the low end of the spectrum. :)

Your SATs are surprisingly low, given your high class rank.

I would take them again, especially with superscoring.

If you think you will be on the UF marching band, that would probably help you.

How have you done on your AP exams so far?

If I were an admissions officer, and saw your excellent gpa, but your rather low SAT scores (by UF standards), and also saw that you didn’t pass your AP exams, then I would think that your gpa is suspect. But if you got good AP grades, that would tend to alleviate this concern.

I think you will get in though, because it’s not like an 1850 is a horrible score.

i am an ap scholar with distinction. World 5, Human Geo 4, Physics B 4, APUSH 4, Lang 3, Psychology 3, German 2 :frowning: And i am currently taking Physics C, AB Calc, Macro and Gov. Thanks, I took the SAT twice, read the entire review book, improved 10 points. I just don’t do so well on those standardized test, but i think i do well enough in the classroom and I definitely want to be in UF’s marching band.

Thanks for the input!

You passed all 4 major subjects at the college level and a mathematically-based lab science and several writing-intensive tests which show your SAT is not representative of your abilities.

Class Rank, GPA, and SAT are important for their middle 50% ranges. You are at the top of the ranges in Class Rank and GPA and in the range for SAT. You should be fine. Apply as early as you can.

Given your very good AP results, I would think this would alleviate any concerns regarding your relatively low SAT scores (by the way, don’t get me wrong, I am not putting you down, as I myself got a 1200 SAT, back in the days before there was a writing section).

So I think you should get in. It is my feeling, based on what I read, that UF probably doesn’t give the SATs as much weight as some schools do, because they keep talking about their “holistic” admissions. There seems to be a general anti-SAT trend out there.

I still think you should take the SATs one last time, because of superscoring. But perhaps it’s too late for that. I don’t know. My son raised his SAT scores 100 points, with zero studying. You didn’t mention the breakdown of your SAT scores—math, CR, writing----but if you are border line in one particular area (for example, a 590 in math), even an extra 10 points might give your application a bit of “window dressing”, getting you up to the “magic” 600 level. You really have nothing to lose by taking one last shot.

My son’s application to UF is almost the opposite of yours. Very high SAT scores, so-so gpa (3.6 or 3.7 unweighted), and not very strong in the area of ECs. He too has very good AP test results (Four 5’s, Two 4’s, and Two 3’s)
