UF admissions as a transfer spring 2014

I am not here to get all in dept with academics. I just want everyone to keep me updated on their status of admissions as a transfer student. Currently my major is African American Studies. I have a 2.7 gpa. I am African American and I applied about 3 weeks ago, all of my transcripts has been sent. My status changed today. It says my application has been sent to my college. Is this a good thing?

Your application for admission to the University of Florida for the Spring 2014 term has been referred to your college for a final decision. Please refer to the information below to determine whether any additional information is required. If you have sent information to us recently, please allow time for processing.
This is what my status changed to.

It means that you meet the minimum standards for admission to UF. It doesn’t mean that you’ve met the standards for your major. I don’t know what GPA is required for you major though. It’s one step closer though!

@agmama thanks, I actually talked to the women over the program and she said “honey you will be fine, I’ll see you in the spring”. This really boosted my confidence.

That’s great news! I just went through the wait (admitted for fall), so I know how nerve racking it can be! I applied in late January and was denied in late June. Then my app was resubmitted with an explanation of my low gpa (just over a 2.0, the program required a 2.5…I had a bunch of Fs from 14 years ago. My current gpa since starting back in 2011 is a 3.0) and a letter of recommendation from a professor in the program (Agricultural Education…there’s a shortage of Ag teachers which is why she was so willing to help me out). Then I had to wait a couple of weeks to be accepted. It was a ride for sure!

Congratulations! What is your major.

Agricultural Education…I want to be an high school Ag teacher after I graduate.

That’s cool!

Anyone heard anything yet? Keep me posted!

Hey UFpotential,

Who did you speak with?
I would like to call them also, because I am in the same step.
