UF may “bend over backwards” to assist public school applicants, but private universities (especially those in the top 20) “bend over backwards” to assist private school applicants – who else would be able to afford their ridiculous tuition rates?

yes Marx’s communist society was supposed to be a classless society.

But let me tell all of you that the last thing communism creates is equality. Fidel Castro rose to power by offering to take from the rich and give to the poor. When in reality what he did was take from the rich and keep it for himself and his elite few. The Cuban people have been living in poverty since the beginning of the revolution. And today they only get by with the goods that family memebers send them from the USA.

Yes the people in Cuba now have free education but they are spoonfed propaganda from the party. When they graduate a doctor or an engineer can expect to make $100 per month. Health Care in Cuba is a joke. Non sanitary conditions make it impossible to cure anyone.

There is a reason why the only countries that are still so called communistic are run with an iron fist of oppression.

All of you need to keep these facts in mind as you are bombarded with leftist ideals over the next four years. Be strong enough to stand up for what you believe, dont let any proffessor spoon feed you his beliefs without questioning or challenging his or her teachings.

Exitos!

OP, even if there are facts and figures to prove otherwise, I agree with you. In my experience and opinion, there is a slight preference (and possibly easier transition) from public high schools to private, especially those in Florida.

I know friends who have been accepted into UF and those that haven’t, and while both are from high schools both public and private, there is a majority to those who have been accepted from public universities. However, this may also be rooted in the availability of options for public schools within the state of Florida.

I know this goes beyond your situation, but I see your viewpoint valid to an extent in another specific situation. There’s a system in the state of Florida that allows public high schools to send their transcripts electronically to public universities/colleges in Florida. Perhaps this has made it easier for UF in-state applicants because 1) OOS can often times forget to send their transcripts, or their school has problems with transcripts, or etc., and 2) UF may have preference to electronically sent transcripts.

Now that some of us are telling anecdotes, here’s mine: I know of four private Catholic high schools in Broward County- St. Thomas, Chaminade, Archbishop, and Cardinal Gibbons. If you look at their list of acceptances for the past couple of year, they have MANY kids accepted at UF. This might be a problem with the OP’s school. As another poster pointed out, if they are limiting the number of kids taking AP’s to a ridiculously low number, that would point to a problem with that school. But hey, at least they usually have a decent football team. ;)
