Can anyone on here tell me what the bus system at UF is like? I've been thinking about taking the bus to school instead of getting a parking decal because I heard its hard to find parking there. Would you recommend the bus or a parking decal? I've been thinking about taking a bike too, is it difficult to load/unload bikes? And how do I know what bus to take? I will be living in Marchwood on SW 43rd St and SW 20th Ave, if that helps.

Depends on which route you ride, really. I am personally a fan of the buses, I find them quite accomodating. I am almost positive Marchwood is on SW 43rd St and SW 24th Ave, and if I’m right that makes a pretty big difference.

If I’m right, your only real option is the 22, the Marchwood Bus. It runs every 25 minutes in the fall during the morning late afternoon (when most people are going and coming from campus). It takes it about 20-30 minutes to get to campus, depending on stops and such. I have never seen a 22 full.

If I’m wrong, and it’s on 20th, then you can ride the 20 or the 21, which between them come every like 10 minutes, but you’ll see full buses on occasion. 43rd is rather early on the route, so this won’t happen too much. The 20 runs from morning till night, the 21 stops in the early evening (Like 7 or something).

Oh, the options for parking on campus are attrocious from an undergrad with a car. If you go the parking route, I’d consider a scooter.

Here are the bus schedules: [RTS - Regional Transit System for the city of Gainesville, FL, the University of Florida and surrounding areas.](http://www.go-rts.com/schedule.php)

D’s at The Estates on SW 20th, and she hasn’t had any trouble riding into campus. She said she learned pretty early how to avoid congested times, and she noticed that after the first few weeks, ridership goes down considerably as kids don’t go to all their classes. She doesn’t have a parking permit, and she has had no trouble. After 4:30 she parks on campus for things she does in the evenings.

Also, almost every bus has a GPS unit and you can track the buses online. If you have a smart phone, you can do it from there as well. You can find it on the RTS website.

Is there a specific site or link for GPS tracking campus buses? I can only find GPS for city buses which doesn’t really help me.

[UFL - RTS - Transit Visualization System](http://ufl.transloc.com/) All the buses tracked are there.

I am not even sure if campus only buses have GPS, they go so often there is probably no need.

Thanks for the link. Yeah I was hoping there was GPS for campus routes, but it isn’t really necessary. I live close enough to campus to walk, but it would be nice to know where the bus is if I needed it.

Thank you all for the input!

Zaersz: Yea your right about it being on 43rd and 24th Ave, I was looking at the google maps wrong. I went and saw the place but I’m still not familiar with the streets. So I guess I will be taking the 22.

Zebes: Thank you for the link, I found that really helpful!

boohahaha: Thank you for the link. I have an iPhone and I typed in TransLoc and found an app that is exactly like that link, its pretty cool thanks.

Just regurgitating what everyone else has said.

Also, loading and unloading your bike is not hassle at all. Just load it on to the front and your good to go!
