UF Chance? UF is my dream school!

Rising senior, white female, from PA
Unweighted gpa:3.7
weighted UF gpa: 3.8 (I know it's low but our valedictorian last year only had a weighted gpa of 4.2 and it may have been an even lower UF gpa. My school does offer honors and APs can only be taken senior year.)
My ACT is extremely low right now at a 22 however Ive been studying since June and should be able to manage a 26 at least. (i'm shooting for a 28) I take the test again September 21. Im getting math tutoring and I try to do one practice test a week.
Ive taken the hardest courses available at my high school.
Im around 20th out of only 70. (not sure of my official rank)
Ill have 26 academic courses by the time I graduate.

Community Service:
When I apply I'll have roughly 750 community service hours (mostly at a hospital and at a therapeutic riding facility.)
440 of them at a Hospital,
150 at a Therapeutic riding facility,
20 baby sitting underprivileged kids,
25 at a food bank,
15 pumpkin picking (leo club activities)
25 Teaching 7th graders at my school the dangers of drugs and alcohol. (I'm hand picked from the entire grade.)
In August I will begin volunteering at the Humane society, before applying I should gain at least 40 more hours of community service.

Clubs and ECs:
Horse back riding for 2 years.
Im in NHS and received two awards for my community service.
I know know if it helps but I have done 2 job shawdowings...
I was on my hospital's Jr. volunteer board as a Secretary and trainer for 3 years.
I have been in the following clubs (counting senior year):
Envirorthon(Biology quiz club)- 3 years
Art club- 2 years (was secretary for a year)
SADD- 3 years
Leo Club- 3 years
Alumni gardens(Biology related club)- 3 years

I also started working when I was 15 as a sophomore in high school and have held a steady job working at least 3 nights a week ever since.
I don't know if it would mean anything but I will be visiting UF this July or August!

I feel on a scale from 1 to 10 my essay is a 9. Ive already written it and am revising it with my AP english teacher! It should really grab their attention! :)

THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP!!!!! :)

Pleaseee! bumpp

****My school does NOT offer any honors courses. Only advanced that are worth an additional .25 quality points for gpa purposes. There are also “CHS” or college in high school class but ive taken every one of them and they give an additional .50 quality points.

BUMPPPPPP BUmp

High match with 26. No chance with 22.

Wait, you’re oos. I change high match to low reach.

OOS really doesnt mean anything but thank you anyway. My father also lives in Florida however I attend a PA school so I’m not sure if Ill come up as IS or OOS?

It does mean a lot. State schools, especially flagships, are required to admit mostly in state students. (Usually around 75%) It makes the OOS applicants much more competitive and a 26 ACT wouldn’t really cut it.

I looked it up and it said if your parents are divorced and one has lived in FL for 12 months, you qualify for in state. If that’s the case I say high match.

UF: Aim for 28+/1900+

if you can get a 26+ you have a solid MATCHdue to your outstanding EC and volunteer service. Make this part of your application stand out and it will def help u. You GPA is adequete for this school, not stellar, but should be enough to get u in. good luck!
chance back!?!??!

BUMP10CHar

BUMp please help me :(

UF is not hard to get into. I could’ve done that with my 9th grade SAT of 1860 (application non-superscore was 2280 with a 2290 superscore). If you just up your scores some, since out of state will matter (if I remember correctly, it asked how long you had lived in that house too, but I suppose you could lie). But about a 28 ACT or a little higher SAT and you’ll be fine there.

UF was my super backup that I didn’t even want to attend, but I was too scared to leave Vanderbilt as my backup (turns out that would’ve been fine). Ended up at the University of Pennsylvania (which is relevant, since you’re from the state). I’m from FL BTW, so I heard a lot when I was in high school about the process, I did apply there myself, and I have a lot of friends there.

I just hear horror stories about valedictorians having the best grades SAT/ACT scores and even decent ECs not get in  it’s my dream school, thank you for the response :)

You’re ECs are excellent, but you’re GPA isn’t very impressive. It’s kinda understandable, given the classes that your school offers. If you have won any awards, they will help. You should definitely retake the ACT and take the SAT as well. If you bumped up your test scores, I think you’ll get accepted.

You have really good EC’s and that is really important to UF because they love to see well-rounded students. Even though you’ve taken only a few honors and AP’s it is ok because they compare your rigor to the rest of your school. I would say aim for a higher ACT/SAT score (Probably at least a 29 since you are out of state). Good Luck!
