@ScholarshipsWya - I actually think my D may have to do the honors application anyway, as the Stamps scholarship says they take into account the honors application essays. She is planning on it. So go figure. I really have no idea why she got chosen for Honors early. She is a national merit finalist so that could be a reason, but then again it might not. None of her friends got the honors admit either and they are stellar students applying to Honors as well.
@g8torlaw Here’s a link to the program.

It’s been around for several years, and a few kids from our local HS have gone through it (and liked it). A couple of things to note.
First, you may now be able to get housing on UF’s campus. UF reduced the number of enrolled freshman in 2016, which freed up housing on campus. They offered this housing to students going to Santa Fe. Check to see if that’s the case again this year.
You do save money going this path. It’s the same Calc 1 class, but it’s a lot cheaper at the CC.
You should also note which engineering degree programs participate. If you meet the grades, you’re automatically enrolled into the program, after you finish your math and science critical tracking courses (some of which you can use AP/DE/IB/AICE credits to bypass).
Accepted, OOS 3.6 WGPA 29 ACT (31 superscore but UF doesn’t accept) good EC’s great essay
Got into Maryland, Delaware, Penn State, Indiana, and a couple others… but DEFERRED Ohio State and WAITLISTED UMiami
Seems like I got lucky with this one?
@JY1424 I think admissions is just unpredictable. S was deferred at UGA and Wisconsin but admitted to UMiami and UF. I guessed it would be other way around. Good luck trying to figure out college admissions. Congrats on UF!
My son received the Honors acceptance and scholar research program as well. However I have no idea what Stamps is, so I doubt he filed any additional applications, lol. While he got a 1550 on SAT,he’s not a national merit scholarship recipient. He did get perfect 800 on SAT subject tests in physics and math 2. He has regular EC 's , nothing spectacular. I understood the scholar research program to be limited to 200 people school wide? I am hoping for more merit than the $2000. Fingers crossed.
@RobK2018 I agree—very weird how this stuff happens. Congrats to her on UF and Miami! UM was my top so I’m pretty envious of her on that lol and thank you
Got accepted
1290 SAT
101.125 weighted
56/624
Band for 4 years
5 letters of rec
DECA state finalist
Still waiting on IA decision tho
SAT: poor
GPA: solid
Essay: good
I got accepted for summer B!!! Should I go to UF or UNF??? (keep in mind that) I could commute to UNF, but would have to find a place to stay at UF.
1350 sat, 4.1 gpa, rejected
Thanks so much for the info @Gator88NE Sounds like a great program for my son! Our concern is that he is NMF and I am not sure he can use his Benacquisto scholarship in this program. I will call next week. It would be nice to have another Gator in the family!
Definitely call admissions for an update. Good Luck!
Accepted! 1450 SAT
It’s not even a close call. Quality of education, cost, network, opportunity, student body etc etc
UF!!!
DS accepted to PACE, excited, why are people so upset about being accepted to this program?, at the end of the day, you are a Gator??
@g8torlaw Ack! I wouldn’t want to lose my Benacquisto scholarship! Then again, we did pass on a $12K a year merit scholarship at UCF for $0 at UF. I still try not to think about that…
@sarahmic46 UF or UNF? Why UF of course, if you can afford it! You’ll find that the #1 cost at UF or UNF isn’t tuition and fees, but room and board.
I didn’t get in as a freshman, but they are looking at my application for a transfer student. More waiting to see what will happen
@Mcccbw Pace feels like a rejection for many. It’s competitive to get into PaCE, and student who have, also usually have other great options. They want that classic going away to college experience. PaCE is different. It’s a great fit for some, but not for many others.
Glad your DS is excited about it. Go Gators!
@Natsumio That seems to happen a lot for students that would qualify as transfer students. Now the college with your major is evaluating your application and not the University admissions staff. I think it takes a week or two to complete (based on last year).
Good Luck!
@Gator88NE Oh thank god! I thought I would have to wait like 2 months in order to get another decision XD. I’m not that nervous because the applicant pool for smaller for transfers then it is for freshman
