Last email we received from UF Admissions was late November regarding the SSAR. Hmmm… trying not to read in to that lol
As someone who hires, A UF student goes high in the pile and a UM student goes low. Based on reputation and people I’ve interviewed.
we received the following email:
Greetings from the UF Office of Admissions!
Freshman decisions for students who applied by November 15 and submitted all required materials will be available online after 6pm EST on Friday, February 9, 2018. Written notification will be sent the following week to admitted students only.
Steps to check your application status:
•To view your decision on February 9, you will need to visit admissions.ufl.edu and click the button to Check Status.
•Log in using your Coalition username and password (the same username and password used to submit your application).
•We recommend trying to log in before February 9 to make sure that you are able to log in to your status page.
•If you no longer have access to your password, you may reset it through the Coalition login page. The Office of Admissions does not have access to your username and password.
Be sure to check out additional tips on the UF Office of Admissions blog!
If you have any questions or concerns about your application status, contact the Office of Admissions at (352) 392-1365 or e-mail freshman@ufl.edu.
@labegg I couldn’t stand it so I called UF admissions. They said they didn’t send the email but that it was sent through/by the Coalition. I didn’t want to keep on with the but, buts. It is what it is. Very interesting. Either 1) It means nothing. 2) or UF has been tipped off of their snafu. They said they had received a number of calls.
"We also have an email confirming our deposit for housing. " Wait, was there something to do for UF housing? I thought when submitted application there was some sort of order priority given but don’t recall a deposit? Kid doesn’t always notice emails… I assumed housing would be tackled AFTER find out if get in…
@labegg I called before others posted their exact email. Again, I don’t want to be “that parent”. Either he got in or he didn’t. Me questioning them to death won’t change that. Sigghhhh.
When checking the website yesterday I remembered they have a form and seperate process for special consideration for people with disabilities. During my applicaton I decided not to use it because then it wouldn’t feel like I had “earned” my spot, which is ridiculous and a stance I only have in regards to myself. I wish I had put more thought into that now.
@Parman37 I completely understand! We all look for a “tell”. I guess we will all know for sure is in 6 hours?!
@Parman37 I remember paying a housing deposit to secure a spot. Here’s the initial e-mail I received.
"We are excited that you have submitted your application to the University of Florida! Now that you’ve made the first step toward becoming a part of the Gator Nation, you are eligible to make the first step to live where Gators live.
You might ask, “Why should I apply for housing now?” Students aren’t required to live on campus at the University of Florida and first year students aren’t guaranteed housing. The date you submit your housing application and pay the $25 non-refundable housing application fee becomes your Housing Application Date.
Your application date helps establish your priority or place in line when being offered housing or being assigned to your hall and/or room type preferences. Waiting until you are admitted to apply to housing will lessen your chances of getting a preferred roommate, residence hall or room type. For these reasons, we strongly encourage you to apply for housing right now instead of waiting to hear if you will be admitted to the University of Florida.
To complete your application for campus housing, follow the instructions provided here: https://housing.ufl.edu/living-options/apply/incoming-students/
The $25 application fee is a non-refundable processing fee and will not be returned for any reason, even if you are not admitted to UF in the future. A housing application is not a contract or guarantee that you will be offered on-campus housing if admitted. We wish you the best with your application to the University of Florida!
If you have questions or need additional information, we encourage you to contact us.
Go Gators!
The UF Housing and Residence Education Team"
ok, I think we did that, the $25 dollar thing. thanks for that info. so there wasn’t something coming up later that said now is the time and they need $200 and some forms filled out that we missed? moot now I guess but if accepted we’d want to get on that!
So, IF GET the coalition email versus DIDN’T get it, what might that mean (aside from SPAM)? was the small class thin a “congrats to you be proud” or a consoling email? What are the guesses?
I just called as well and was told an email was sent out late yesterday evening…who knows
Time for me to chime in. I am from Georgia and unfortunately FSU is and always has been the much lesser school than Florida.
@gatormom18 @Gator88NE So the messaging they are giving about the “email” that went out is not consistent. I include @Gator88NE as I think he is well informed and might have some comments?
@gatormom18 Don’t go down that road. We’re all nuts…
I spoke to Ms Hayden (?). She even forwarded the email to me!
She said it went out to ALL applicants. She suggested I check my spam/junk folder. I looked and it wasn’t there either. She then asked for my email and forwarded what was sent out.
Theres a page now at the admission portal log in that’s for freshman to go straight to the decision page. Sitting in my last class of the day and this is all I can focus on
What was the email that went out to all applicants last night? My son said he got an email at 5 that contained instructions on how to check for the decision but that was it…
@danielle6849 You might have meant to direct your “don’t go there” comment to me and my conspiracy theory. We are all going nuts. Ugghhh. My apologies.
