OK so I guess I'll start this out seeing as I couldn't find one so far.

I'm applying to the Spring 2012 (January) semester at UF, just wanted people to start posting their decision acceptances/denials here so we can get a rough idea of when we'll all hear by.

Political Science Major
Overall GPA: 3.6
Pre-Prof: 3.0

I got into UF in 2009 upon Graduation, but I didn't have my greencard yet (moved from England) so I couldn't afford the out-of-state fees, so I enrolled in Comm College. I applied for Fall 2011 but all of my pre-prof classes were taken during summer, so they rejected me because they weren't able to see my grades for my major - which is understandable. I'm really hoping the fact that I already got in helps my chances...
Anyway let's do this!

I just applied this weekend for spring for journalism. I’m transferring from a CC and I already have my AA, but I’m taking the rest of the pre-reqs I need this fall, so I’ll have 81 credits by the spring.

My GPA is a 3.36. Not very impressive I know. I did have a 2.86 until this past spring/summer. I worked really hard to raise my GPA before I applied to UF and got A’s in all 10 classes I took between spring and summer. But, a 3.36 is the highest it’s going to get so I’m pretty nervous. My pre-prof GPA will hopefully be a 4.0. I hope we find out soon! UF is my only choice for a school so I’m crossing my fingers. Not sure what I’ll do if I don’t get in…

By the way, does anyone know how UF factors in grade forgiveness? I retook 2 classes. One was a D and I got an A the second time, the other was a D and I got a B the second time.

I think you’re fine Honestly if your pre-prof is 4.0 that is AWESOME. I got unlucky this summer and my online teacher for stats was awful, so I got a C in that class bringing my Pre prof to a 3.0 but I know a girl who got in with lower than this, same major, for fall of this year. I also read somewhere it’s easier to apply for Spring anyway

I’m not sure about forgiveness thingy.
Good luck to you and keep us posted!

Glad this was posted too. I think we’ll find out some time in the fall semester, right?

Political Science
4 year public in-state
3.5x (after summer classes end, should get As in both classes since I’ve gotten an A on every assignment)
3.8 major GPA, will be taking two more pre-reqs in the fall (they said that was okay)
Will also have an upper division course in the major under my belt (that, again, looks like I’ll ace).

Fingers crossed! I just want to get in, graduate, and go off to law school already. Good luck to everyone :)

I can tell you that as long as you have an AA, that UF can’t pick through your classes as a whole (all the classes that you took those 2yrs to get your AA). BUT what UF WILL do is look at your OVERALL GPA and pick through your core major/prerequisites classes. If you apply earlier, your chances to be accepted are a little better. But it really boils down to what college you are applying for within UF and if it is a limited access major or not. Like if you have a 3.2 GPA and are applying to UF for something to do with biology/medical science stuff I wouldn’t even bother. Transfer student access has increased for 2011-2012, but with the mass of students applying it will still be difficult no matter the term. I am personal trying to transfer into the Summer A term for CLAST, I meet with the undergrad. coordinator frequently and can tell you that if you are transferring: TO CONTACT THE COLLEGE which you are applying to and ASK THEM for a list of prerequisites and recommended classes NOW! That list is god sent and will help you out so much! DON’T listen to your college adviser on what courses to take, they WILL tell you wrong, from personal experience at two other colleges I know. But anyways, good luck on being accepted! :)

I have been looking for a thread like this. I agree with the comment about asking the individual colleges within UF about prerequisites. I am applying to the biology program.

Your application for admission to the University of Florida for the Spring 2012 term has been referred to your college for a final decision. Please refer to the information below to determine whether any additional information is required. If you have sent information to us recently, please allow time for processing.

yayyyyyy!!!

and pre-prof is the GPA with only the classes that go towards your GPA.

@brente, Exactly a week ago! They’re going so fast, I applied for Fall this year but got denied cause I didn’t have any of my major classes in yet so they couldn’t see my GPA for it. I’m pretty sure it took like over a month to get to that message. But I applied for Spring cause I got all the PoliSci classes in for summer and this time it’s only taken a week to get to this stage. I’m hoping that means I’m getting good news this time.

@xoxoluv2shop, that’s a good sign. It means that your application has made it past the initial admissions decision. Only your specific college remains. What major did you apply to?

Major: Finance
GPA: 3.9
Pre-prof: 4.0
CC transfer with AA

Applied at the end of July, my application was forwarded to my college a couple of weeks ago. Going crazy checking my status daily even though I know it’s unlikely to get a decision so soon.

Only thing I’m unsure about: MAC 2233 Survey of Calculus is required for my college, but I have credit for MAC 2311 Calculus with Analytic Geometry. I’m hoping that will be sufficient, I hate calculus.

Yeah that 2311 is way harder than 2233. xoxoluv2shop, one of the ladies at admissions said as long as you have 50% of your required pre-reqs for your major finished by the time you will attend UF it doesn’t matter. I am finishing two more in the fall so I was worried about that too.

yay mine has been referred too! I didn’t even think anything of this, I thought it was a normal step in the process? Not everyone’s application gets referred?! I applied for a ltd access major as well (journalism). I got the referral notice about a week after I sent all my transcripts. Fingers crossed!!!
