oh yeah and based on the replies in here so far, it’s a good sign for your app to be referred? Does that mean there’s a good chance you’re in? I’m so anxious now haha

@graphicdevine, I noticed that my previous comments could be seen as misleading…it really isn’t a big deal if your application gets referred. I was saying congrats because it’s the first step in the acceptance process. Once the admissions office decides that your application package is complete and ready for review by the individual college they send it along. So the only thing that has been decided so far is that your application meets the requirements for consideration.

I guess getting your app deferred to your college of choice is like step one of two. but still we can all be happy for now haha

Well I see it as a good thing because it was changed to that after a week, whereas when I applied last time it took like 2 months to get to that stage. That’s why it’s exciting!
I guess for Spring they speed up the process more?

I applied to transfer for Spring 2012 and also had my app. forwarded to my college of choice after only about a week. My GPA is a 3.87 (a 4.0 for prerequisite coursework), but I am still nervous because I have two prerequisites still in progress and they’re both math classes!! I am SO nervous!

I’m nervous too ! one of mine is math class too! I heard most of the time they will just tell u to get a “b” or higher or your admission may be in jeopardy of being revoked. so I think
we are good :)

Yeah I’m nervous too. I’m taking 5 classes in the fall, all being pre-reqs. Technically there are only 4 pre-reqs required for admission and I already have 3 of the 4, but there are 8 classes to choose from so I decided just to take all 8 haha. I’m hoping they will look at that as a good thing… maybe to make up for my fairly low GPA :/

keep me posted on what happens! UF is deff my first choice! :)

Does anyone actually know how long it will take CLAS to make a decision after the application deadline?

September 15th is when the deadline is for CLAS applications. I saw on UF Admission’s FB page they say there is no set date. Just to keep checking. Suspense!

Hello everyone,

I also want to transfer to UF in 2012, but I don’t intend upon applying until the Fall semester. But I do want to support you guys and obtain as much information as possible. (Plus, I have been a CC lurker for ages but just got the courage to post and reply.)

I’m already very nervous about my transfer possibilities because I suffered from major depression my Freshman year of college so I left UCF with a 1.88 GPA and attended Valencia- received a 4.0 in all classes (which were all pre prof), but, because UF does not have a grade forgiveness option I am thinking that my pre prof gpa will merely be a 3.3 (maybe a 3.4) even after taking Chem 2, Bio 2, Orgo 1, Orgo 2, Physics 1, Physics 2, and Calculus and receiving all A’s (I had to retake Chem 1 and Chem 2 and got a C in Bio 1- all were taken while at UCF.)

I am not sure what to do.
I feel like returning to UCF will be terrible for me because every time I go to that campus, I feel overwhelming anxiety and frustration. I need a fresh start and UF has a beautiful pre-medical program that makes my heart flutter.

@MROCK21, the fact that you overcame your illness will play to your advantage. Your track record at a four year might hurt you but that is something you can address in your letter of intent. Getting all A’s is something to be proud of and to be honest I can only think of a few issues. Why on Earth did you take all of those classes? There are only 5 prerequisites for the pre-professional biology program at UF. Taking all of those courses at a CC will not look good to medical schools. From what I understand, they like students to take the prerequisites for medical school at a university. That’s something you should consider looking at. One more thing… it’s rumored that Fall is harder for transfers to get into.

Ohh. I suppose I should call an admissions counselor.

I am just deeply concerned that even though my turnaround was quite good, the low gpa caused by my freshman year will hurt me tremendously.

Do you think that it is best that I try for a Summer semester?

So I looked up the thread from last year, a lot of people weren’t finding out till late October, mid-November. I also met a girl at my job today who told me she transferred from a CC and found out 2 days before thanksgiving. I think it’s safe to suggest we try to forget we even applied for a while… haha.

Haha that’s both funny and disappointing. To be honest, I really didn’t think that it would take them that long

I think everyone who applies early should have a good chance at getting in because we all obviously really really want to get in! haha! (wish that were the case!) but yeah I’m trying to forget about it and just focus on classes! :)

YIKES! I would like to know ASAP. I simply cannot wait that long. I hope I find out early!

Stats! Post stats! :P

ahh I’m so worried about that haha. I agree, I think we should just forget about UF right now I just REALLY hope we find out sooner than a month before spring semester starts. There is so much to do to prepare for the move! For me at least haha…

Hi Grapic I just saw your first post.

UF does not take grade forgiveness into consideration. So if you have taken any course more than once you have to calculate every grade you got in that course for your GPA.
