I’m sorry steelersgirl! everything happens for a reason right? I hope you get into somewhere
amazing

Your application for admission to the University of Florida for the Spring 2012 term has been referred to your college for a final decision. Please refer to the information below to determine whether any additional information is required. If you have sent information to us recently, please allow time for processing.

it changed to that status today. i guess ill hear from them soon? i dont know what this means.

yes david you should hear in a while. probably not as soon as the people who have applied earlier though. maybe a month tops?

Oh just great lol. Well hopefully I’ll hear from UCF by then.
I wish I had applied to UF early august instead of late august lol

Btw i missed your last post. I am a psych major :)

Now if we can just get CALS moving, I will feel much better. I really need to know as soon as possible if I am going to be accepted. I have a family and many plans must be made. The more time I have, the better…

I know what you mean curt! I want to have enough time to find a job and apartment!
and david that’s awesome! I want to take a course or two in the field!

@Steelersgirl

Dont worry I know you will be successful anywhere!!!

When did you submit your application.

Curt656- what is your CALS major? I also applied to CALS -as a food science/human nutrition major.
I have read that CALS is quite the competitive college, so I’m just hoping for the best…

Steelersgirl- what was your major/reason they didn’t offer acceptance? If UF is your goal, you can always try again (take additional classes before transfer for example) and reapply…

I would love to hear back from UF soon, but I don’t really expect anything until late October…

I applied for Biology (Pre-Professional), but am interested in switching to Micro. They have a distance learning program here in Miami and I wouldn’t have to move, although I normally prefer the traditional lecture format. I wonder if I should call and ask them to change…

I don’t know how competitive CALS is as I haven’t been able to find much information about the statistics of the college itself. Good luck to you! I hope we get in!!

Curt: do you mean microbiology instead of biology? they may be just fine with that since they are similar majors. I am also pre-professional, although the other specialization- nutritional science- in my major is the one considered as such. The dietetics specialization still fulfills professional school requirements, except for physics which I would take as well.
I’m actually considering UCF’s biomedical science undergrad, since I could drive to UCF’s campus and not have to move (1 hour drive, but still doable). But dietetics is a nice back up just in case med school does not work for some reason… it’s pretty tough to get a job out of a pure science B.S. degree. I do have a huge interest in nutrition as well.

Anyhow…did not intend to ramble on. I really also hope we find out soon! I have checked my status far too many times today…I think it was due to the fact that I dreamt that I had been accepted last night! Good luck to you as well- and to all the others still waiting!
I really hope it is not long! There is so much to plan!

Steelersgirl- did they say why you weren’t accepted? :(

David- I got my decision about a month after they updated my status to the one yours is now. But I think they’re a lot further along in making decisions now than they were then so I’m sure you won’t be waiting too much longer!

Not sure when the status changed, but I just checked. Accepted for PoliSci provided that I pass all my classes this semester (coincidentally that was my plan all along). Not sure if I’ll go though. Do I apply for housing now?

Congrats Scotus!!! When had you last checked??

Even though I had just checked a few hours ago, I got all excited and checked again…to find the same ‘referred to your college’ message. Oh well.

Why do you think you may not go?

And yes, you can go onto the housing portal and apply. Students can actually do it before being accepted, as long as you have a UF ID and have applied. I already did.

The initial housing app fee is $25, then the send you a contract some time after which costs more. Not sure if we’ll actually be able to get any on campus housing this late in the game though. Off campus will be cheaper and is preferable to me, but I’m not sure what I’ll do just yet.

Good luck with whatever you decide! Where would you go instead?

I already paid that ~$20 holding fee for the housing months ago, and was told I would definitely have a place on campus (we’ll see). Cornell ILR is my absolute #1 choice, but I’m applying for the Fall. Not sure if I should go to UF for one semester and then leave. Ugh. Also, will I be getting my financial aid in the mail? ISIS is blank.

I called CALS today and was told that CALS applicants will hear back no later than November 15th…sigh…

Maybe I should just try not to check everyday.

Scotus: You could go to UF and then transfer into a more competitive school. You would probably need to go longer then a term though, but I’m not really sure. Or, consider going to UF for undergrad and going somewhere else more competitive for grad if that’s in your plans? I can’t help you at all with ISIS, sorry.

Oh, and I forgot to mention:
When I called CALS today, I was told that the lady (one person) who does the applications was not in on Friday. So for the CALS college, I guess we should not expect any status changes after Thursday.

Tinuviel: Yes, I did mean Microbiology. Cell science is much more interesting to me than the more generalized Bio stuff.

Also, I just found out that Miami Dade College (where I am finishing my AA currently) and UF have an agreement for that distance learning Microbiology program that guarantees acceptance to Miami Dade AA grads. That is me (or will be by Christmas, lol)!! All of the lectures would be online and I would have to go to Miami Dade for labs and tests. The part I am unsure about is if I can switch into that program now that the application deadline has passed. I tried to call and find out, but the Micro advisor hurt her ankle and won’t be back to work until Monday. So I guess I will find out next week. If I am accepted to CALS straight up as I applied, I would probably try to switch to Micro anyway. The only thing I am leary about is this whole distance learning thing. It would be completely new to me as I have always gone to classes and attended in person.

In addition to UF, I am also waiting to hear from UM, and have already been accepted FIU. This is getting ridiculous how many times a day I check, lol!!
