UF Dorms for freshmen

Considering UF (stuck between UF and UGA) and was wondering what dorms you think would be best for a freshman with a little of a profile possibly. Ive seen them online and I’m interested in the apartment style rooms and the halls with non-communal baths. I feel like the apartment style ones will be full though?
And help is wonderful. Thanks!

Beaty Towers will likely be available (with some luck). It has a higher % of Freshman than the other apartment style dorms.

The problem with apartment style dorms, is that it’s hard to meet folks. It’s not as social. It’s the main reason my daughter picked Jennings over Beaty. Something to think about.

You’d still have roommates and such though in an apartment style correct?

Yes, in Beaty, each apartment has 2 bedrooms, with 2 people per bedroom. So a total of 4 in the “apartment”.

There are two new dorms for 2015 (Cypress and Infinity). Are freshmen allowed to live in Cypress hall? And if so, do you think many freshmen will live there?

are apartment styles with kitchens and stuff an option?

I’m not sure how popular the new dorms will be with current students. We’ll find out when you go through room selection.

If you’re looking for a dorm with private bathrooms, I know that in Beaty Towers and Lakeside you only share your bathroom with around 2-4 people. I’m pretty sure these are the only apartment-style dorms offered to underclassmen. There are a few others such as Keys and Springs but I think those are mostly reserved for upperclassmen. There’s another dorm called Windsor Hall that is not owned by UF, but you have a bathroom and kitchenette in your room, similar to Beaty and Lakeside. I have known people who have lived in all three and they enjoyed their experience. It just depends on what you’re looking for. Hope this helps!

Most kids move off campus their 2nd year for a reason. They want more privacy, their own bedroom and bathroom. They want a kitchen. So if you can get into Beatty that is better than most. Cypress is a great choice. Stay away from Broward and Jennings. They try to force as many freshman as they can in these 2. . Broward has 3 toilets for 26 kids on a floor.
