UF Email

Got an email today telling me to keep my grades up..... As if I wouldn't.... Kinda degrading. I know it's a friendly warning and just an update/congratulations, but still...

what
whatwhatwhwhthathwthat

They send out lots of mass emails get used to it. Its mostly for people that dont know that uf can renig your acceptance. If you get offended by this you’re not going to make it very far in life.

I got this same email too, and it made me really think about if I had made any errors on my application when I submitted it to UF. I remember that when I was filling out my senior schedule in the application, I put my full year courses (i.e. Literature, Calculus, etc.) as “1 Unit” in both semester 1 and 2, implying that it was a full year course. Was I supposed to do this? If not, can they cancel my acceptance?? I now feel like I should have put the .5 for each semester…but then I’m not sure what the 1 was even for. This had me fairly concerned.

If anyone could shed some light it would be greatly appreciated.

I wasn’t offended. Not even snide remarks offend me. I just found it condescending and wanted other peoples opinions on the matter. If you can’t see that then you probably won’t make it far in life

Ouch, retract the claws guys!

By the way, finding something “condescending” usually suggests that you are offended.

I just found that the tone of the letter had an air of superiority about it. Which doesn’t seem like the right approach when trying to have students, who obviously must have showed some academic success, to matriculate. Not offended. Just an observation.

Well, it obviously bothered you enough to complain about it.

And I didn’t see that in the letter at all. It was a valid letter, telling people to keep their grades up. There was nothing condescending about it. Many students slack off later in the school year, and aren’t aware their admission can be rescinded because of that. It was a factual letter, reminding students of their duties.
