UF Fall 2013 TRANSFER

Does anyone know what that transfer rate is for out of state students? Also, has anyone on here been accepted from out of state? I’m still waiting for a decision from the college of engineering. I assume this long wait means my application has the lowest priority since I’m not from Florida.

I don’t know what the exact acceptance rate for OOS students is, but I thought I heard that it is like 5%. Also, just because you haven’t heard back doesn’t mean you are lower priority because you are OOS. UF gets so many apps and almost everyone I know who is transferring hasn’t heard back yet, and they are all in-state.

I’m not moving to Gainesville, so that part’s not an issue for me. I do feel for those who need to make living arrangements! At this point I’m pretty positive that I won’t be accepted for the major of my choice. I needed a 2.5 gpa for my critical tracking classes and since I failed College Algebra last semester and only got a C this time (bombed the final…grrr) I will only have a 2.49 or exactly a 2.5 if they round it up (it ends up a 2.499) and I doubt they’re going to let me in with a C in a critical tracking course. :frowning: I’ve applied for Ag Education. The Ag Communication major (which is connected to the Ag Education major) only requires a 2.0 overall and a 2.0 in critical tracking, but I’m missing a critical tracking course because my college doesn’t offer it. I don’t think they’re going to let me do that major instead.

RimfireHamrick,
I applied as a transfer majoring in accounting as well. Still waiting for their decision until now. The thing is I am coming from an out of state CC. My GPA is only 3.7. In the Fall 2012, Fisher school of accounting only admitted 43 transfer students with average GPA of 3.79. So, I guess I have to lower my expectation of getting accepted to Fisher.

3.79?!? I guess that explains why I didn’t get in for accounting haha. I also had a 3.7. Honestly, I wouldn’t expect to get in from an out-of-state CC with a 3.7. I don’t mean to be a buzz-kill, but that’s just my opinion. You could do what I did and try applying for Finance if it says you qualify for other majors if they deny you and then just work to get into accounting.

Good Luck!

Thank you. I just wanna do accounting actually. If they dont accept me, then maybe they are not for me. Still hoping I can get in though

@redzgo where did you get that transfer statistic from? Do you know where i can find out how many transfers where accepted to the college of engineering/ chemical engineering program?

Yikes82, I got the statistics from the fisher page under demographics.
Go to your specific college and check if they provide the statistics information.
Are you still waiting as well?

Hey guys I got a conditional acceptance to UF about two weeks ago and I am OOS with a 3.3 GPA!

Congratulations. What’s your major

Hey everyone! I’m a prospective student as well. Applied 2 weeks ago with a 3.75 GPA and 3.72 pre prof GPA. I was originally considering the Fisher School of Accounting but ended up applying as a Finance major.

Does anyone know of any places that offer semester leases for fall? I want to study abroad in the spring but there are not many subleases available in the fall I guess because of the football games.

RimfireHamrick- It’s pretty difficult to change your major to accounting once admitted. I’ve heard of people being denied who had 3.9 GPAS. My friend’s RA is in the program and she said it’s very rigorous and competitive.

Redzgo- i got accepted to fisher school of accounting last week, i had a 3.85 GPA and 3.93 pre prof GPA.

gatorfannn, oh wow Congratulations. Now I am so jealous :). Are you transferring from a CC or a uni in florida?

Congratulations to those who have heard back

Does anyone happen to know how gpa is calculated when you complete your degree at UF? Do they just use your upper level course GPA as your final university GPA or do they add in your CC GPA along with it to have an overall GPA.

I was wondering that too, UFKitten. I imagine the CC GPA doesn’t count at all because it wouldn’t be fair to 4-year UF students. But then it isn’t fair to us because our GPA only reflects junior and senior level courses and isn’t boosted by some “easier” freshmen electives.

Redzgo-Thanks i’m transferring frm a CC in florida.

UFKITTEN:

I don’t think they calculate it which kind of sucks for us. Just saw that you go to Valencia…lol so I.

Yeah it does kind of suck. But it would be kind of nice to start fresh I guess. I’ve been reading that if you apply to grad school they still consider your CC gpa different from your university gpa so it still matters in that case.

IamthewalrusSs- That’s awesome. Valencia rules!

Redzgo- From what I have heard, the accounting program is extremely limited for transfer students. I myself applied as a transfer from an in state CC to the accounting program (with a 4.0) and was somehow reject, and ended up going into the finance program.

Best of luck!
