UF fall 2015?

I am applying for UF fall 2015 soon, but since i am an international student, I’m not so sure of my chances. My dad is American so I’m getting a summer job in Gainesville to secure my green card before i apply.

I am hoping to major in Chemistry (pre-med)
The high school i attend is a advanced high school for people with better grades (if that helps)

My mom is an author so hopefully she will proofread my essay after i write it.

What do you think? :)

Does your father list Florida as his official residence and has he lived in the US for at least 5 yrs. during your lifetime? Have you researched to see if you meet the requirements for US citizenship?

ECmotherx2: He lived in Phoenix, but I’ve researched everything and I’m qualified ;)

If you are looking to major in chemistry, why don’t you have any chem EC or a chem SAT II? You don’t seem all that dedicated to that major.

I have a question for you though. What did you do to calculate your UF GPA? I am looking to apply there too and I’m not sure how to calculate mine.

UF doesn’t look at SAT II test scores. Chem EC’s are nice, but not a requirement. You get accepted to the University and not to your college/major, so major specific items are not required. In other words, during freshmen admissions, all students are in the same bucket and compared against each other. In fact, a leadership EC could be of more value than a Chem EC, due to the general method of admissions.

UF uses 9th through 11th grade classes (plus “advanced level” classes you may have taken in 8th grade, such as Algebra 1 being the most common). They only look at academic classes (no PE). They give +0.5 points for “honor” classes, and +1.0 points for AP/IB/AICE/DE classes. An honors (or “gifted”) English grade of a B, would be worth 3.5, while an AP Lit class B would be worth 4.0.
