Although my family is financially struggling, my EFC (25k) says otherwise. I know that UF will not be giving me any money but I thought the highest level of Bright Futures gives around $4k a semester/$8k a year and boy was I wrong. My counselor told me that they only give around $2k PER YEAR meaning that I will have to pay 18k per year⊠and ultimately graduating with $72,000 of debt.
I donât want to graduate with such a heavy debt and my family will not be able to help me. Is anyone else in the same situation?
The amount Bright Futures pays varies by the award level. The top level is $103 per credit hour, or for a year (with two 15 credit semesters) about $3k a year. See the following link:

Use the UF net Price Calculator (NPC) to figure out your cost (if you havenât already done so).

Not too long ago I came across an old pamphlet my grandma got when I was in middle school on Bright Futures. âThe Florida Academic Scholar program will cover 100% of tuition, plus a book stipendâ sigh, those were the days :-<
