UF Financial Aid

For people who live in-state, it's ridiculously cheap. However, it's way more expensive for people applying OOS (out-of-state). Some of my friends from the North would like to apply. How much financial aid might they receive, considering that they are poor? Is it possible to get a full-ride, with some work-study? It would be totally groovy if they could come to Florida.

It is extremely doubtful your friends would get any FA (except federal Stafford/Pell) being OOS. Florida focuses their funding on residents with their Bright Futures scholarships.

This is from their website:
In-State Grants for Undergrads:
Federal Pell Grant:
$555-$5550
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants:
$100-$2000
Douglas Turner Grant:
$100-$5000

Very few public universities can meet the full financial need of even their in-state students. Only 2 public universities promise to meet the full need of all of their students: UVA, UNC.

If your friends want to go to school in Florida, their best chance of being able to get funding would be at the graduate level.

^Thanks, I see that now. At most, FA can cover most but not all of in-state tuition.

It depends on fafsa for federal aid. UF might give you something if good GPA or something but nothing near full ride.
