Taking a relativly tough courseload w/ 5APs by graduation

Senior year: AP Chem, Mod, English

Also, if I live ~40 minutes away and cannot drive, does that qualify as a reason why I did not do more ECs if it is really true?

First.-explain your UW GPA. 4.0. You never got a grade lower than an A? Anyw, Unless you screw up the essay, you're in. Here's the scoop.

UF only uses a core weighted gpa. add 0.5 for honors and 1.0 for APs in recomputing.
Sounds like you have about a 4.5 weighted, let's figure it out.

4.5==450 UF points, Add 60 for your new SAT M&V. writing doesn't count. Neither does sat IIs or AP scores. Ad 30 for your acedemic awards. Add 30 for your 3 APS in the senior. That gives you 570. fall admission score on early action (apply sept. 16) is 600. The essays are graded 30--150! 70 is avg.--you're. for the record you can add another 30 if either parent or sibling is an alumni. Another 30 if you're in an impoverished hillbilly school district.

IMPORTANT! Register, by tonight(friday) and take the SAT in october. Reason--If you get 1400 M&V you can get into honors program. Don't forget to send in the $25.00 housing dep. by Oct 1.

BTW--what private school?

I have had 2 APs last year and 3 more this year. I will also have 6 honors classes by graduation. Do I add 5 points to my 4.0 and then another 3 for honors classes?

Is a 1400 on the SAT the only way I can get into the honors program?

For next year 1400 is min. sat to be considered eleigible to apply for honors.
UF uses a weighted gpa as of the end of junior yr. period. they will reweight your grades for the 9th 10th and 11th grades by adding.5 for each honors course you took in those years, and adding 1.0 for each AP you took in those years.then they re-average. Sr. grades do not count in gpa. They reward you, however by adding the 30 points as I said for taking the 3 Aps in the senior yr. The honors courses in your senior yr. means zip.

I go to UF. You will 100% get in. Especially if you do ED.

floridatony -- what are you talking about? ED is october 3 deadline... how can we submit the housing deposit prior to gettting accepted? and uf doesnt have early action.. ***? uf ed is oct 3, reg decision is oct 17 and reg decision II is jan 17 ,2006... dont post wrong info plz

if you don't get in, you obviously get your money back for the housing deposit.

You have about a 85-95 percent chance of acceptance...

First--Mystic--you misread my post. Fri. the 9th deadline I was telling Johnny to meet was deadline for Oct. SAT so he retake with a shot to get 1400 to get in honors program.

Second, UF send you an invitation to establish a housing prority date about a week after you APPLY. It costs $25.00 to apply, and NO you dont get it back if you're not accepted.

As a rule, If your housing priority date is after Oct. 1, you are prob. too late for top choices.

Also MYSTIC, Uf does have early action for some select programs--apply sept.16th, hear November, commit May 1.

what programs? so i can apply quickly

you have 110% chance of getting in, regardless of your essay. Why are you even asking?

dont apply ED either, why commit yourself when you absolutely will get in regardless

I was wondering because I have heard that its becoming more difficult to get in over the past few years and another reason was because I heard they look a lot at scores. My scores are not great so I was just wondering.

Also, does UF accept the ACT equivalent of a 1400 for the honors program?

UF is NOT as hard to get into as you think. I live in Gainesville, I have 7 family members that went to UF and 3 that currently attend. My dad wrote a book on admissions and did alot of his research w/ UF. If your ACT is higher than your SAT, submit it, but TRUST ME, the only difference it will make is whether or not you go to the honors college, you WILL get into UF. I dont know much about ACT scores, but if a 30 is equiv to a 1400, you will get into honors. Im telling you, DONT SWEAT IT, I would bet my life that you get in. My bro got in w. a 3.6 (UF weighted) and a 1460, his gf got in with a 1340 and a 3.8 (UF weighted), and their roommate got in with a 3.4 (UF weighted) and a 1160. Of course I could be talking from a different viewpoint considering all of these kids were IB students. I could have a skewed view of admissions because at my school each year MAYBE 2 people in the IB program (130 ppl per grade) dont get into UF. Maybe they just really like IB, iduno.

ib students are almost guaranteed admission

30ACT=1300 sat, 1350=1400, 32=1400, 34 ACT=1500.

Mystic, Sept. 16 is deadline for outstanding high school scolars program--you need to be a merit semi to apply.

Blind--UF does NOT have an honors college. What it has is an honors program, that channels greater resources that translates to better dorms(new Hume), better classes for first two years classes are generally 20-30 students and taught by tenured facility). Easier access to subsidised research, study abroad, combined grad programs, etc.
1400 cr and math on new sat need to apply.

Buzz, is that for next year UF is looking at writing segment of new SAT in holistic reviews
