UF Honors College Essay Questions for 2019/2020

Has anyone made it far enough through the Common/Coalition Ap. yet to see the honors college supplemental essay questions? If so, would you please share the prompts here? Thank you!

If your kid starts the UF Coalition App, it asks if you want to be considered for honors. If you check yes, it takes you to the two essay prompts. My son went back and unchecked the box and then moved past the honors section. (He’s not ready to apply for it.) You can see the prompts in the app without applying for honors.

Here are the supplemental essays for the UF Honors Program:

  1. "The University of Florida Honors Program is a “community of scholars” bound together by a shared interest in maximizing the undergraduate experience. Why are you drawn to this type of community at UF, and how do you plan to contribute to it in and out of the classroom?"

2." During high school, what is the most enriching long-term or ongoing activity in which you have participated outside of the classroom? Tell us about it – Why is it enriching to you? What have you gained or learned by participating in it? How do you plan to continue this type of activity in the future?

The activity does not have to be sponsored by your school, but you should have participated in it since you started high school. Please limit to one activity that has been meaningful to you, and be specific.

Examples could be – but are not limited to – research, involvement, work, performing arts, school or community events, volunteering, mentoring programs, summer programs, athletics, etc. *"

My take:
The Honors Program is expecting your child to have been involved in a “long-term or ongoing activity” for the entirety of high school. How many kids have been involved in the same activity for all four years of high school? The program wants intellectually curious and diverse students but expects them to be wedded to at least one activity for all of high school?..Or am I reading this wrong?
