UF Honors

On the website, it says we're supposed to find out April 1st. Do you think that means midnight? I hope so. :D

Did anyone else apply? (:

FYI…check your myufl email, under self-service…my son found a letter there posted yesterday.

What did the letter say?

Full page letter, but the first of it as it follows:

"Congratulations! You have been accepted to the University of Florida Honors Program.

Your next step is to register for Preview, the mandatory 2-day orientation program for new students. Please do this as soon as possible. During Preview, you will meet with an Honors advisor and register for your summer and/or fall classes. Preview dates are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. To register for Preview, visit [Orientation | New Student and Family Programs | The Dean of Students Office | University of Florida](http://www.dso.ufl.edu/nsp/orientation). If you have already registered for Preview, no additional action is required. The Preview Staff will be notified of your acceptance to Honors and your appointment with an Honors advisor will be scheduled accordingly."

Good luck!!

I just checked, my son got a letter that he did not get in. I have to say, I’m really disappointed, it would have been such a great fit for him. :frowning: It’s funny because every other school he applied to admitted him into their Honors or Scholars program except the one school he choose. It’s really making me rethink his choice. Maybe he should go to FSU or Ohio State or Chapel Hill after all??

I haven’t gotten any letter, neither of acceptance or of denial. It’s killing me! D:

@nickirows - I hope that’s a good sign for you.

Did you log into your WEBmail section under self service?

I did. It just says I have no mail. :(

@nickirows - Ugh, that’s frustrating. Well, I would just call first thing Monday morning if you don’t get an email by then. Good luck :)

Well, it says on the website by April 1st. So I can’t really get annoyed until tomorrow I guess. Perhaps they’re doing it alphabetically? Or in the order they received the applications? :/

Thank you, Kalmond! Went into MUfl webmail and there was her acceptance e-mail! We were expecting it to come through her regular e-mail.

Wahhhh, where’s mine?! :(

Even a denial would be better than not knowing at all.

MY son was accepted to Harvard and Yale… But not the UF honors program??? He wanted UF honors… What should we do? He also has duke and chapel hill (honors)- he did get a full ride at UF and the two ivy schools… So? What to do? First one to college; my older daughter went into the navy… No clue what to do?

UF Honors is a nothing program-- 4 courses and a project or study abroad ($).
600+ kids can hit the pillow in a nice dorm (Hume) but that’s about it. We studied
it for Daughter and then eh! We registered for an Honors visit- drove up to Gainsville,
it had been canceled and noone notified us. What a joke. I followed up with a nice
note asking about what happened-- guess what, NO RESPONSE. An Honors kid was
nice enough on her time to give us a brief tour of Hume.

Parents-- Don’t lose any sleep over not getting accepted into UF Honors.

.02 David

Well, I give up. I never got accepted, nor denied. I never even got the mail. :(

@nickirows - did you ever receive an email confirming that they received your application?

Denied. Accepted to Stanford, Dartmouth, Duke, and UPenn.

My essays were god awful so its not surprising at all to me.

@FLnative28,

I received the following message:
"Dear Nicola A Rowsell,

We thought you’d like to know that your signature page and application fee have been received by the UF Honors Program. We’ll be e-mailing you again by April 2nd about your official acceptance.

Thanks,
UF Honors Program staff"

So, I assume that was the email saying they received my application. That, or they just took my money. :(

Purpender: Penn is my #1 choice and I got waitlisted. I got into UF honors though. Wishing with all my might to get off that waitlist!

Although now I’m interested in reading your essays! haha

@nickirows - that’s the same confirmation my son got when he applied. Check on Monday. I hope you get in but try not to take it too hard if you don’t. After hearing about the quality of students they turned down it’s hard to imagine or guess what they’re looking for. Do you have other housing ideas lined up if you don’t do Hume? We’re trying to figure that out right now. My son has the first housing pick on Monday but he doesn’t know what to pick!
