I apologize in advance for the large number of questions.
What makes UF honors such a good program? Are the (un)common courses difficult? Do they require excessive class participation (or would you get points for just paying attention - this is a concern for me because I am a shy student)? Are the requirements difficult to complete? I was looking at the website and there seem to be many requirements that can only be completed by paying for them (ex: study abroad). Is UF honors better and USF honors or UCF honors? If I want to go to medical school in the future, would it be beneficial for me to participate in the UF honors program, rather than USF honors or UCF honors?
All responses are greatly appreciated!
A lot of people start the Honors Program at UF for the benefits (early registration for up to 10 credits; ability to live in Hume Hall, the honors dorm; small honors sections of certain gen ed classes and other classes not generally available.) Some don’t complete the honors program because it does tend to be involved, and doesn’t necessarily yield a lot of extra oomph unless you’re enjoying some of their nitpicky requirements. I don’t think the honors program at ANY of the schools will be what gets you into medical school. If you have a choice between fulfilling an honors requirement, or doing some volunteer work or research in the medical field, the latter would help you much more than the former.
Anyone familiar with the stats and percentages of those who apply that get in to the program?
