UF Housing Info & Advice

Hello fellow Gator parents!

Congratulations on our students' acceptance... Hopefully we will win a Football championship like we did last year in basketball!!!

I just wanted to give other parents some advice... I know we are all worried about housing and hope they are living in a place that is the best for them. I have two daughters, Ashley is entering her Freshman year, and Sarah is a Junior. We had a difficult time with housing for Sarah when she was a freshman. She was placed in a temporary triple (which did not turn out to be so temporary). We thought Sarah had an early priority date and were not too concerned. Then we found out she was placed in a small room with two other girls.

This year while we were at preview with Ashley we also visited a few apartments so we have a backup plan if she is disappointed with her fall dorm. Even though she has a January priority date, the housing office did not ease our worries concerning Ashley's housing request. The UF housing office recommended a few places that are close to campus and provide a similiar experience as the dorms. We visited The Courtyards, Windsor Hall, Ivy House & Royal Village (she loved the townhouse at The Courtyards the most!). We had already planned to stay an extra day after preview so that we had time to check out off-campus housing. We easily could have toured apartments on the 2nd day, since they were all walking distance to campus!

I just wanted to share my experience and inform you that The Courtyards (if we sign a lease there) is offering a $100 off our security deposit for each person we refer, as well as $100 off for you. So if you sign there, let them know Ashley Lynett referred you.

Good Luck & Go Gators!!
