UF Housing

First off, I submitted my application late September, and housing the day I got the email (October 1st). How far back for the housing selection do you think I will be?
Secondly, I am majoring in Engineering. What is East Hall like? I would like to be fairly social, but probably not the Broward level of social. Is there some in between level dorm?

Hi,

East Hall claims to be an Engineering Hall, but you have to keep in mind that it’s not a requirement to be an engineering student to live in East Hall. So if you expect to be with all engineering majors that definitely won’t be the case. The location is convenient, it’s near the stadium and Gator Dining, but you will be sharing a bathroom with your hall.

I understand what you mean by a hall less social than Broward. The only reason Broward is so social is because of it’s size, but most halls on campus are basically the same in that aspect. I had a friend that was a chemistry major on pre-med track so he also wanted less of the social aspect of a dorm. He lived in Windsor Hall, it’s near UF campus and has the option of a dorm without a shared bath that he really enjoyed. So he was able to meet more people, but keep the convenience of having his own private space.

Hope that helps!

LOL–if you want to be social–cook a pot of spaghetti and some cookies in the dorm kitchen.

Question- do you apply for housing after applying to UF? Like even before getting a decision back? How do I do it?

Yes you apply as soon as you apply, that is, before the decision. They will send you an email as soon as you pay the app fee I think saying you are eligible you to apply for housing and you can go from there. Or maybe try logging into your account and see if you are eligible to apply if you didn’t get the email yet. Apply ASAP so if you get in you don’t get forced into living somewhere you don’t want to.

I received an email about 2-3 days later telling me to apply.

Has anyone heard if they got into their LLC request yet?
