Dear Gator Families:
The information below was sent to all faculty, staff, and students at the University of Florida. We encourage all of our students to monitor the storm and check www.ufl.edu and their Gatorlink email account frequently for updates from the University.

The University of Florida is cancelling classes and closing offices in Gainesville/Alachua County for Friday, October 7
.
P.K. Yonge Developmental Research School will follow the UF closure schedule. Only essential university personnel should report for work. Health Science Center clinical personnel should check with their supervisors as to whether they should report for work. UF Shands Hospital will continue with normal operations.
We expect to have an update on Saturday’s football game against LSU today after 5 p.m.
UF employees in Gainesville who normally work weekends should monitor the UF home page for updates regarding Saturday’s schedule.
UF units with operations along the east coast of Florida should follow guidance from their university administrative units and local officials.
Additional information about leave entry will be provided next week.
Supervisors, please ensure that all employees, including OPS, are informed of this closure
.
Students are advised:
•Do not travel towards the storm. Be aware that a broad area will be impacted by the storm so we suggest staying in Gainesville. Travel will be hazardous.
•Stay inside.
•Charge your cell phone and other devices before the storm starts in case you lose electricity.
•Never use candles during a storm. Remember, they are a violation of the Conduct Code if lit in a campus building.
•SNAP will operate Thursday until midnight. SNAP will be closed on Friday and will return to normal hours on Saturday if it is safe to do so. RTS will suspend on-campus and Later Gator bus services during the UF closure, and will discontinue all service during sustained winds of 35 mph so monitor bus schedules for stoppages. Additional RTS information may be found at go-rts.com/.
•The Dining Halls on campus will close at midnight on Thursday. They will reopen Friday as soon as it is safe to do so (see website for schedule - gatordining.com). Consider stopping by a dining outlet tomorrow for something to eat in case the opening is delayed on Friday.
•If you live on campus, your Housing and Residence Education staff is there to assist. Check with Hall staff if needed.
•You should move valuable items away from windows or off of the floor in case of wind/rain damage regardless of height of your building.
•As always, in an emergency, call 911.
Other resources for those in emotional distress: Housing staff, U Matter We Care (umatter@ufl.edu), and the Counseling and Wellness Center counselor on call (352-392-1575).
Classes are expected to resume on Monday, October 10. Other scheduling updates and storm information will be posted regularly on UF’s home page, www.ufl.edu.
