UF, NYU, Notre Dame...

Wow I had this whole long thing and college confidential logged me out...

UF, NYU, Notre Dame, University of Penn, Columbia, and other top schools/Ivy League schools

Unweighted GPA: 3.63
Weighted GPA: 3.81

Not typing all this **** again so...

Haven't taken SAT or ACT yet (anyone know how I should prepare/study for it. I barely try and school and I sleep and I still get good grades, but I'm gonna cut the crap this year.

Going into my Junior year of high school.
White Catholic Male, will say I'm any religion that will help me get into a school idgaf.

Part time job, Store manager will right a letter of recommendation saying that I am a hard worker, because I am a hard ass worker, Sheriff that's been elected for over 10 years used to be my football coach from when I was a kid and would easily right a recommendation for me, as well as the Mayor for over 10 years, a retired commissioner, and a UF alumni. The Vice President of the Nuclear Powerplant that probably supplies UF with it's power loes me I used to be best friends with his kid and he is a Navy Academy Alumni.

No extra curricular activities besides part time job, but I'm going to start doing a lot of community service, and I'm going to do wrestling next year, and if Tennis isn't in the same season I'm going to do that as well just to have another extra curricular activity. Next year maybe I'll run for student office or whatever. Anyway really tired had this whole nice things written out and it got deleted so this is it haha

I'm probably pretty close to top of my class, could do better if I stopped sleeping in class, which I will next year.

Next years courses:

Algebra 2 Honors, Chem 1 Honors, English 3, History.
Pre Calc., Chem 2, Gym and I'm too tired to remember what else lol

When should I apply for early decision/admission/whatever I'm pretty sure I can get into UF, my sister knows some pretty stupid ass people that got in there with no sports and no brain haha. I just need an interview and I can get myself in, I have a way with face to face conversation ;)

anyway just let me know what schools you think I can get into, and what I should do to prepare for the SAT and ACT, pretty much I just need to do good on the SAT/ACT and I should be able to get into UF, I used to be friends with the son of an Alumni who went all the way to becoming a lawyer, but kinda stepped down into this weird position with the sheriffs office now that he is getting older, he's a detective for them like trained cop, but he was a lawyer first its weird lol.

bumpyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

bumpppppppppppp

Someone please reply I know I haven’t taken the SAT or ACT yet, but lets say I get a 2,100 SAT and a 28 ACT (I think I can achieve both)

So if I get those scores what do you guys thinking someone please answer.

Forget the iv

thanks for the reply, anyone else?

I plan on having a 3.8 by the time I graduate, because I can easily get all A’s if I study, and if I go buy a SAT/ACT study book or get one from a library or some **** I could probably get a 2,200 and probably a 30 or 32 ACT, I just have to hit the books before I take the test.

But I want to apply for ED which I think is in January after my first Junior semester, so Hopefully if I get all A’s I can boost it up to a 3.7 unweighted (Anyone know a website where I can calculate this from putting in my current GPA and then what I predict I will get next semester?) I think I should be able to boost it up to a 3.7 in that time, and my weighted GPA should probably get boosted up to a 3.9 since its already like a 3.83 or something like that.

Anyway, so if I get a 3.7 unweighted GPA, 2,000 SAT score, and a 30ACT score, do you guys think that can be enough to get into UF.

I think it is, UF doesn’t go off of just statistics, it actually separates your scores into one group, and your extra curricular and personal statistics(race, do you have a job, **** like that) into another, and they both equally matter (got this off of their website), and plus I know some stupid kids that got in and don’t play sports or anything like that.

But I just want to know more people’s opinions please, thanks.

bump, i looked up the average scores of people admitted:
Average GPA:
3.76
Average SAT Score:
1887
Average ACT Score:
28

still looking for other peoples opinions tho thanks

ND is a no unless you are a minority or a legacy.

Well i guess its a good thing that i know a member of the ND board of admissions? :)

1) Saying you can probably pull a 2200 or 32 is much different than actually doing it.
2) Your GPA is low compared to most students accepted to Ivy/top schools.
3) You have no extra curricular activities.
4) You proclaim you sleep in class and will stop next year.
5) You think you have stellar connections. They could help slightly, but unless your family is a MAJOR donor, you’re extremely overestimating how they will make up for the minuses I’ve highlighted above.

Putting that all into perspective, you could have a chance at UF, I’m not extremely familiar with it. As for ND, the Ivies, or schools within that vicinity, you have a very slim chance. Most students who get accepted to these schools have worked hard all throughout high school, taking the most rigorous class schedules possible, don’t sleep in class, are dedicated to activities outside of school, have top standardizes test scores, and don’t rely on “knowing members of boards of admissions”. Are there some outliers to that generalization? Of course. But they are outliers.

Take high school seriously, do things outside of class, do very well on standardized testing. These schools are highly selective for a reason. Don’t talk about it, be about it.

I do sleep in class, and if I actually try and study, I’m pretty confident that I can get those SAT/ACT. My school, pretty much has no clubs/EC’s, around here it’s actually an accomplishment not to be a pothead and I haven’t been able to play sports the last couple of years because of injuries, and I’m not relying on boards of admissions, I just so happen to be related to one, and he said to call it quits on ND unless I have someone there and I said that I do. You kind of are coming off as a prick, so go **** yourself.

I don’t try hard in school because I really don’t have to, I do homework in school and all of my B’s pretty much come from 2 art classes I took, 1 I had to take to graduate, and then the other I just really couldn’t get out of because classes were full. Feel free to explain to me how to study for an art class where we didn’t really have tests, it was just based on our drawings and I had horrible handwriting to begin with just because I do.

And people on here tend to think for some reason that getting into college is a lot harder than it seems, I was just looking for actual opinions, not advice from some dumbass who probably is a highschool student or some parent.

Did you know that the average highschool GPA for a student accepted into UF is a 3.7? Thought I mentioned that. Did I fail to mention that I’m not really looking into ND or any of those schools, and I don’t believe I can get into an Ivy league school, because even if I did I most likely wouldn’t attend? It’s also easier to get into schools if you are instate, like I am. Trust me, stupid people with no EC’s get into colleges, like I said I know quite a few people that are currently attending UF, and it’s not really that impressive.

And again I don’t “think I have stellar connections” just listing off people that I know would be willing to write a great letter of recomendation for me, and I think the Vice President of a nuclear powerplant that makes over a million dollars a day would be a pretty good candidate for someone who is planning on taking up a business major?

Tell me I’m wrong. I don’t want advice from people who don’t know what they are talking about, if you want to give advice, that’s great and appreciated, but atleast state who you are and why you should give advice. If you’re another Highschool student don’t even bother posting anything, looking for opinions/advice from teachers/alumni/college attendees.

You’re wrong.

You said you’re looking for opinions, I gave you mine. When you come onto College Confidential, you’re getting advice and opinions from anyone able to operate a computer. If you only want people praising you, ask for that next time.

I’ll be starting my second year at what USNWR classifies as a “most selective” university.

Good luck on your admissions process.

Hi, I was selected into UF, NYU, Johns Hopkins, and I attend UM now and my stats were the following

GPA: 3.8
Weighted: 6.2
SAT: 1870
ACT:27

I must add, you are quite rude and there is no need for cursing out other people. You came on this board to ask for opinions and when people give them to you, you appreciate it and take it into consideration. Please do not come across this way on your applications.

Best,
CollegeGirlRA

Thank you and i know i was rude

Anyone else?

UF sounds like your realistic shot right now. Still, SAT scores and ACT scores usually come back lower than anticipated (imagine that!). Try to get some leadership positions for next year and senior year along with straight As. See where you are after junior year and then take stock of your options again.

UF average gpa is actually around 4.3… Try to raise your gpa above 4.0 because they accepted 82% of kids above the 4.0 mark when they recalculate it, you also REALLY NEED extracurriculars do get on that
As for the ivy league schools I don’t really see you getting accepted. Sorry but its the truth

Thank you. I should be getting into NHS this upcoming year, and will go for a leadership position, and i also planning piling up on community service, also going to join the Interact Club which is pretty much community service.

bumpyyyyyyyyyyy

Anybody else?
