As It stands, I will most likely be accepted into both schools. i've picked UF because it is the highest ranked public school in florida, and I will have alot of money towards my education if I stay in FL. This is besides the point. Which of the two schools, Embry Riddle or UF, has the better Aerospace Engineer program, all things considered? When I say all things considered, I mean considering *cost *quality *job outlook *internship opportunites. Any opinions from anyone, especially current/former students, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi Cyngus - I work for Embry-Riddle and am graduate (but not in engineering). I believe the more important question here is not which is better but which is better for you. I won’t try to compare the programs and schools or say that one is better than the other - instead I will tell you the things that AE students and graduates have told me they like about the program and Embry-Riddle: small class sizes, lots of interaction with faculty, opportunities to participate in competitions and research, focus on hands-on projects, the facilities and the fact that the campus as a whole is geared towards aviation and aerospace. One AE told me he really found it valuable to be able to walk across campus and speak with an actual pilot about how an aircraft performs from the pilot perspective. We do offer some really great internships and we are well-respected in the industry - so employers actively seek our students and graduates. The best thing you can do is try to visit both of these schools - it really is the best way to decide what’s right for you. I’m not sure current students visit this board much, but you can read current student perspectives here: [Student Journals Daytona Beach, Florida Campus Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University](http://www.erau.edu/db/journals/) Sara and Natalie are in engineering and partcipated in internships this summer (with Boeing and with MTU in Germany). Go to the archives link to see other student internship stories. These students include email addresses, so feel free to write them to get more from the current students perspective.

UF’s aerospace engineering is far better than ERAUs…in fact, all engineering at UF trumps ERAU. Embry-Riddle has one on the best Aeronautical Science program in the world (think pilot training and support services), but its engineering programs are not on the same level, though there are people that will (incorrectly) claim otherwise.

Notice UF is not on the PhD list either: [Undergraduate Engineering Specialties: Aerospace / Aeronautical / Astronautical - Best Colleges - Education - US News](http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-colleges/spec-doct-aero)

ERAU is #17, UF is not listed.

No UF

Nice try, but I never said UF’s aero program was top 10. The only UF engineering programs arguably in the top-10 are materials, industrial, ag, and nuclear. Aero is typically considered somewhere in the 20-25 range. What I did say was UF’s engineering programs are better than ERAU’s.
You quote USNews are your primary source…but the USNews rankings are distorted by ERAU’s unquestionably superior aeronautical science programs. This superiority does not carry over to ERAU’s engineering programs though many uniformed people would like to believe it does. I’m sorry, but the programs are not on the same level as UF’s.
