Im a high school student who has recently been accepted to UF and FSU. FSU invited me to their honors program and offered me a $9,600 scholarship. I need help deciding between the two. I loved FSU, it was beautiful and a lot of my friends are attending. I plan on double majoring in business and psychology. I might switch that to a psych minor but i'm not sure yet. Anyways I'm looking for any input on the subject thanks!

Both have accredited AACSB accounting and business programs. FSU has the oldest university psychology program in the state. Both are state flagship universities with enjoyable sports teams and active fan bases.

Personally, I’d take the money and other Honors Program privileges (like priority class registration and access to faculty). No question it is the better deal.

Yeah, I guess that does make sense. I just can’t get past the fact that UF is a higher ranked institution and thats holding me back from deciding on FSU

Really? U Miami is higher ranked than UF. Why not go there?

^^^
I’m confused, parent2noles. Why do you think that brian87 is interested in U Miami? His original post says he’s deciding between UF and FSU so I would suggest that he visit both schools again before committing and investigate the quality and recruiting records for their respective business schools.

Given your user name, one might suspect that you have a teeny bit of bias toward FSU :)

Yeah i plan on returning to both schools within the next month. Do you have any information on any of those stats?

I am quite biased towards my alma mater - Florida State University. I have no idea why you would think I should not feel pride for FSU. I am a graduate. My wife is a graduate and my two daughter are both graduates. One is currently a 3rd year med student in FSU Med and her husband is a PhD candidate at FSU now. We buy season tickets to the Florida State football games and contribute money to FSU until it hurts my wallet.

Brian was impressed by whatever ratings UF has, that he thinks FSU does not. My point is if ratings mean that much, why not elect to attend U Miami, the highest rated university in Florida today. My reasoning is apparently money is not a factor for Brian; access to faculty is not a factor, priority registration is not a factor. The only factor is ratings. Therefore, the University of Miami makes perfect sense, while FSU and UF do not.

I never said anything of the sort. I’m actually most likely going to attend FSU, and the biggest thing for me is the benefits of the honors classes. I love the capped class sizes and access to faculty and advisors that i wouldn’t get at UF.
